A cake girls Antman build :)

This is my first cosplay build ever so please keep that in mind. I am a cake artist by trade so this is quite out of the realm of my knowledge base. I decided i wanted to build the Antman costume from the 2015 movie. I have a fancon to go to in May 2016 so this will just highlight my build.

I am sure i have done a lot wrong but i will note what i have done. I used the thick floor mat foam for the base of the helmet (which i found crazy hard to glue together with a glue gun). I then used thin craft foam for the mask and all other details. It was a lot of sketch, cut and see if it works. I painted everything black with liquitex black acrylic before painting on the red and silver acrylic. I hacked up my hubbys binder for the eyes

Up next is the jacket. I have no idea what i am doing for that yet but i found these awesome led bendable strips that i can light up the belt and helmet. Its wicked that they come with the big red activator buttons

Stellar work! For a first try that is fine work! If I cansuggest ditching the hot glue gun and go for the Barge of contact cement route, the edges will come together very nicely. Look up Evil Ted on YouTube. He shows how to put things together using contact cement.

Thank you so much Grimwood. Wished I watched that before Do you suggest contact cement for bonding plastic or foam to leather? I read e6000 or e7000 might work.

E6000 is good stuff, just takes a while to dry. But should bond pretty much anything to anything. It's also stinky, but then again, so is contact cement.

I love my Barge. I ordered it through Amazon. Cheap.

if you use any of the e6000 make sure to wear gloves..stuff is nasty on your skin..not that i have any first hand experience about that

Will do yoopees. Sounds like sound advice. Chemicals can do a number on your skin
