50's Greaser Batman Concept

so quick update, wilsons leather coat should be in today, then Ill have to look at deconstructing the sleeve stitch to add the fins or worse put a slice in it :( hope it can be the first option but we shall see, Ive done two different fins one edgy the other more classic, haven't dyed them yet.

also pipe add-ons are done and Ill post pics of that later.

Need you help which jacket do you guys LIKE??

note the shiny leather on the wilsons is due to a fresh application of mink oil it will dull out

my own findings the

coat 1
size marked 36, smaller and way thicker leather, riding comp weight I would guess. because so it gives a nice square shoulder look especially in the arms region. body area is stiff and more slender
abit boxy though because of the stiffness
coat 2
size adult S
body is longer, leather is thinner therefore it feels bigger and does not make my body look slim, flows over the pouches. whats nice is the arm length and the slender fit because of the thinner leather. Though I loose the broad buff look.

shoot me your opinion as I will only chop up one jacket

I like the Wilson's better. The larger lapels look more intimidating, and it shows more of the logo on the shirt. If you had a smaller bat logo than the drawing, higher up, and it looked spray-painted with a stencil, I think that would look really awesome. This is looking really awesome so far :thumbsup

Ill be cutting up the jacket tonight anymore feedback on which one you like would be greatly appreciated. Im only cutting up one of the jackets

agree on this as well! :cool

more comparison shots in better light, these pics show how far the wilsons goes over the pouches compared to the other jacket. Although I agree with everyone the v is more prominent in the wilsons

the shorter one is better imo dude, otherwise there's no point in having the pouches

That's my thoughts too, I might try to half shrink the Wilson when I get home, soak the body, leaving the collar segments and arms dry, then tossing it in the dryer for 2 hours on very low heat, stopping it every 15-20 minutes. Ive done a major shrinkage before on dean Winchester jacket and it went smoothly so Ill give this a shot too, if the consensus deems it a decent idea :)

yea that will work mate.... as long as you have the pouches visible it's all good.... keep up the good work :)

I'd go for it. The Wilson seems to fit better in every way BUT the length.

Of course you could try to drop the pouch belt down an inch or so.

I used to have a 1950's motorcycle jacket - the same model Marlon Brando wore in the Wild Ones.

Consequently it is similar to what the cops of the day wore.

There were snap straps on the back the were used to attached the gun belt to.

Thinking you could have the utility belt worn this way.

This may solve the longer jacket issue.

If yours don't have them, a shoe repair shop could add them easily and for a low cost.

Does yours have this:

I dont think so but Ill have to check when I get home from the office, or I could always de-stitch the belt and slide those through the front loops but that might cause weird looking gravity yankage on the coat

yeah I could end up just doing this myself, I have a ton of leather tools, just need to pick up some rivet clasps from my local store
altough looking at other pics dont know how I would wear it like that and keep the coat open and the buckle closed :confused

I think it would look pretty cool this way and would avoid you having to try to shrink the leather or cutting it.
