5' Studio Scale USS Voyager (RESEARCH THREAD)

Ha. I'm being a hypocrate anyway. I have a pee-wee bike, a clint eastwood costume, a sherlock costume and my voyager model all going concurrently. As well as some furniture I'm making. (If I could focus one at a time I'd probably have them all finished by now though. ;) )
 
Speaking of wives, mine doesn't think I can study for my licensing exam AND work on my models at the same time, so, in the interest of maintaining a healthy marriage, I am forbade to work on any of my projects until after my Licencing exam, April 11th. Sorry, guys. :(
 
How about contacting Mr. Okuda for possible details, since he is in some of those posted pics of the ship? He may be easy to access and have some detail specs, since he did most all of the "Okudagrams" used for the displays thru the series run, and other trek series shows. Just a thought.

I found his FB page and sent him a message. It would be wonderfull if he is willing to help.
 
I would love to build something that big but i just couldn't do a scratch build, if there was a kit that big i would love to do the lighting for it as it could be awesome, another subscription made, this is going to be the build thread right?

I am also looking for information to realise a huge USS VOYAGER.
A kit has been made, it measures 3 feet long, I do not know if it is good in form and whether it is possible to buy it.

I also found a 3D file that looks clean, it is always possible to modify it to make it closer to the right shape if it is not perfect (I like ST Voyager but I'm not an expert! )

With this file, it is possible machining the general shape CNC for a baseline and after, complete with details.

I have seen that page for the 3' voyager. It looks pretty cool... I wish you the best of luck on your build. I can't wait to see it, once you start. I will be able to hit my 1/350 scale enterprise-C hard and heavy in about a month from now, and I am planning to work on the 5' SS Voyager along-side the C. The E-C is for a project, and the Voyager is just for fun... she is my favorite! :)

Got'um... Thank-you. :) This puppy is still a go for this summer, so I'll be sure to post a build thread link when I finally start it. I am not as wonderfully crazed as some of the SS modelers out there, so I intend to add a little more detail to it if I can... including interiors and scaled figures. I am not planning on doing the landing gear, though... PITB, and it'll be on a stand in "mid-flight", anyway. But if anyone has any good ideas or special requests, I would be happy to consider them. :) Thanks for looking!

A teency Tom Paris mooning the cosmos. Just sand his bum flat to get the smooshed on the transparent aluminum look. :lol
 
:lol I'll have to check the scale; I don't know if I can get that kind of detail on a figure. They'll bea little larger than 1/350 scale. I don't have my notes on me, but I think a 1/350 scale Voyager would be like 3 1/2 ft long? gotta check. You might just be joking, but it could be fun to have a silly figure in there to make you look twice. :)

Yep, 3 1/2' is about right. A fully grown man would work out to about 1/4" at that scale. Probably not doable!

There is a Japanese book/magazine called 'Star Trek Mechanics - official guide 4'. There's around 37 close-up photos of the Voyager filming model - really good source to have. I suggest tracking one of these down to help - maybe Amazon might have it??
 
It must be off the grid, cause amazon AND e-bay were a lost cause... but I will keep looking for it. Thanks for the find! :)
