sorry if this has been posted already... from an MR email:

Breaking News. In celebration of the Star Trek 40th Anniversary, Master Replicas will pay tribute to James Doohan and DeForest Kelley by including images of their signatures on the Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Commemorative Edition plaque. Wende Doohan, James' widow, graciously supplied the image of Mr. Doohan's Signature and CBS Studios provided the image of DeForest Kelley's signature.

The star packed plaque will now feature signatures from William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, Walter Koenig, James Doohan, and DeForest Kelley.

With an edition size of only 250 pieces, the Star Trek U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 Commemorative Edition is nearly sold out (if not already by the time you read this). If you're thinking about getting this edition, don't delay.

Don't forget, the Signature Edition version is available, too. Featuring a special plaque signed by Star Trek legends William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, the Signature Edition is running low. Limited to only 500 pieces, this special Signature Edition offers the famous captain and first officer's signatures accompanying their equally famous ship. It won't last long.

Also available in a classic Limited Edition, the U.S.S Enterprise NCC-1701 is flying high. With only 1250 pieces available, this highly sought after 40th anniversary collectible is sure to become as troublesome to find as a shipload of Tribbles.

Just to be clear, it's not a new edition, it's the 40th Anniversary version (the one that has an MSRP of $1999), they have just added the signature images of James Doohan and DeForest Kelley (which I think is a really nice touch).

So do Shatner, Nimoy et. al. actually sit around with a pen and sign these plaques? Or are their signatures "images" also?

No images... it's the real thing... here is a pic of the plaque before being signed.

That is a really great tribute and a super nice touch to add to the plaque. Well done on MR's part.

My only hope is that the other actors see how nice and legible DeForest's and Jimmy's signatures are and try to follow suit.

What are the prices again, on these different editions? Wow MR sure is making it difficult with these choices of amazing replicas coming up...like the OT Enterprise and SW Millenium Falcon...too many temptations.

:love :confused :cry

HereÂ’s a good question...

Having seen what the base for the Enterprise looks like from the Comic Con photos and seeing that it has been designed without a place for a plaque to be mounted where will one put a plaque that large?

I really dislike the base design (looks like an AMT/Ertl base) as it was shown and would prefer the plaques mounted on the base instead of having a plaque stand that you set next to your replica.

The replica looks oustanding and so does the plaque design, I just hope MR rethinks the base.

I would guess the plaque will have it's own little backing and base - maybe. What's the history show with other Studio Scale releases? I thought for the first AT-AT the plaque stood alone - same for the Snowspeeder. I love this signature plaque look but I just can't justify the extra money for the sigs. Base edition for me.

The plaque holder for the first AT-AT and the Snowspeeder did have it's own stand which then stood on the flat mirrored base in the display case. Because of the dimensional quality of the Enterprise base I can't see that working. I guess you would have to stand it off to the side of the base on it's own. :(

OK that's good info, I'm glad the living actors are actually signing and they're not using machines or photo reproductions for the signatures.

I gotta agree on the base, the delta shield is really tacky. It makes the Enterprise look like a cheap toy instead of a museum-quality replica.

I don't understand why the Enterprise doesn't rate a classy mirrored base or at least a black rectangular base. Would the Star Wars collectors like to see an 24-inch diameter Rebel Alliance symbol under the Millennium Falcon? :p

I agree completely.

IMHO the one thing Unobtainium did get right was the base, I liked how the plaque was inset and how it did not take away from the replica which the 2 foot long delta shield does not to mention what it does for the footprint on the replica.

Also I believe Barry stated in another thread that the color of the delta shield will be different depending on what version you bought.
