I've just recently recieved the 1/8 Entex Porsche kit.I've no idea what the initial $$ will be to make the RTV silicon molds,or the urethane resin castings.A small silicon quart kit is about $35.00,the urethane resin(parts A&B) is about $35.00....so that gives me some idea,I'll be conserving as much as possible,no need to waste a $35.00 silicone quart kit on 2 relatively small parts.I just need to set some time aside to do the mold, and make sure it casts out clean&bubble free as I can make it..which should'nt pose too much of a problem I dont think.I'll keep the Falcon Forum informed when I finish the molds&casting begins,if anyone is interested in the trannie castings,or other parts...please p.m in the forum,thanks-John

I just finished scratching the whole shebang tranny and other parts from pine and sheet styrene as well as kit parts its not exact but a close shave or a close shave with a dull razor ha ha ouch
anyways I will try to post pics next week

I think I have id' some parts here you might know about and might dispute but all my ideas are based on measurments taken from photos of the original

the tamiya 1/35 8 rad
chassis trany part is on the right side mandible and also the center mandible inner panels now I know its a bit smaller but I have chopped one up out of my collection to confirm this
the out edging must be romoved and it does match the dims and especially the notches on the sides of the peice ,also it can be seen in the acces pit on the back right side surounded by the 1/20 F 1 engine panels

cna anyone dispute this with real evidance of another kit ?
I have the 1/48 kit and it doesn't have the smae design neither does the 1/76 kit

To my knowledge is the parts for the inner jaw plates and access pits scratched. I do have the 8rad kit but I don't think that part is the right part for these areas you mention. Mine is approx 13 mm x 70 mm and I do have some evidence that might indicate that they are scratch.

moes that is the kind of conversation I am looking for thanks by the way what saoft ware are you using that lets you color the parts so acurately ?

I use Adobe Photoshop. The best photo software tool ever made. Choose the brush tool, paint mode "color" and then paint the part - easy to do!

Everyone say hello to MOE!!

Here is a shot of Moe working at my Desk!!
Notice the TACKLE MOX in front of him. We are pulling and sorting parts from my 80 + kits. We filled Three Tackle boxes.
Tackle Boxes are great! you can List an area of the falcon and start sorting and catogorizing your parts. Mark the parts with a black marker that are MULTIPLES (used more than once).
He is currently here visiting in the United States!! Today!! We are going to UNIVERSAL STUDIOS!! And Friday! IF Moe can change his flights...we are going to the RANCH!! (Thanks Z!)

but now I just don't want to forget waht kit they came from so I leave them in the boxes and pack them in bigger boxes

Frank the guy is on vacation bro. You got him cutting parts for you..you should feel ashamed. I bet you guys are having a blast!

We had a blast!! Moe is on his way back to Denmark as I type this.
I picked up Morten last Friday, and it was like picking up an old friend I had not seen for years. Amazing since we had never met! We have gotten to know eachother quite well by building our two Falcons.

We spent the first few days sorting parts and comparing notes on the BIRD. We raided as many Hobby stores as we could in the LA area....finding many of the kits we needed multiples of, or the original versions.
I also dragged Moe to Several of my friends who work in the industry, and he got to see some really nice work as well as show off the Falcon Guns he brought with him for me to mold.

Thursday, My good friend who works for ILM asked us if we would be interested in a tour he set up for us at work.
Moe was able to change his flights, (he was leaving that same friday) and OFF we went! Roadtrip! Kristin (my wife), Moe and I traveled to ILM which much to our suprise looks NOTHING like you would expect from the exterior of the buildings.
The name on the door is hilarious as its NOT "Industrial Light & Magic" but a fictitious one.
There is no doubt as to where you are at as soon as you walk in the door. We were greeted by a Storm trooper and Vader from the films that were displayed on Mannequins.
We Got a quick of incredible tour through the art department, and the CG area. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and gracious.
We got a peek at one of the sets, I wont say what we saw. But it was incredible, and huge.

We left ILM and left for the Ranch. What a beautiful place.
We got atour of the Main building, looked at some props to included, Luke Empire Saber, Ra Pendent, Indys Whip & Hat, an ATAT from Jedi/Empire, an A wing, Darth Maul Stunt Saber, and assortment of other props and artwork.

Wow!!!
Then our host treated us to lunch. After that it was a trip to the Company Store where we bought all sorts of stuff.

What an experience! We left there and went to my friend Gary's home for a nice dinner and beverages!

So Moe got the GRAND TOUR...and its safe to say, he had a really great time as did Kris and I.

Thanks for visiting Morten! Hope we see you again soon!

Oh man... did I have a blast! - you bet!
Thanks for a wonderful time Frank!
- now I've seen both Falcons which got me started, Frank's and Tim's - isn't that something - and yeah, he did make me build a bit even when I was on vacation ... *******... hehe
I hope I can be able to give you another visit next year my friend!

Sounds like fun!

What's great about your projects is that you guys have been able to achieve what we've always wanted this forum to be about--you loan this, I scratch that, you cast the other thing, sharing of info... your Falcons will be all the better for it. You've achieved what the X and Y threads have lost.

So three cheers for the 32" Falcon thread!!

moes you truley are blessed to have had a great trip and meet and greet new friends not to mention see the holy grail of ILM

take care keep up the great work that inspires many of us
you truly are the master modeler

chuck

Thanks for all the kind words!
I won't forget this trip, it has been an adventure of a lifetime. The great thing about my project and hopefully for you guys too, is that the models we build does not only represent a great model, but also, for me, a great friendship. It has been awesome to see Frank and his Falcon and not to forget Skywalker Ranch as well.

So my advise to you guys, set your goal and do it, perhaps your dream will come true someday just like it did for me.
