We had a blast!! Moe is on his way back to Denmark as I type this.
I picked up Morten last Friday, and it was like picking up an old friend I had not seen for years. Amazing since we had never met! We have gotten to know eachother quite well by building our two Falcons.
We spent the first few days sorting parts and comparing notes on the BIRD. We raided as many Hobby stores as we could in the LA area....finding many of the kits we needed multiples of, or the original versions.
I also dragged Moe to Several of my friends who work in the industry, and he got to see some really nice work as well as show off the Falcon Guns he brought with him for me to mold.
Thursday, My good friend who works for ILM asked us if we would be interested in a tour he set up for us at work.
Moe was able to change his flights, (he was leaving that same friday) and OFF we went! Roadtrip! Kristin (my wife), Moe and I traveled to ILM which much to our suprise looks NOTHING like you would expect from the exterior of the buildings.
The name on the door is hilarious as its NOT "Industrial Light & Magic" but a fictitious one.
There is no doubt as to where you are at as soon as you walk in the door. We were greeted by a Storm trooper and Vader from the films that were displayed on Mannequins.
We Got a quick of incredible tour through the art department, and the CG area. Everyone we met was extremely friendly and gracious.
We got a peek at one of the sets, I wont say what we saw. But it was incredible, and huge.
We left ILM and left for the Ranch. What a beautiful place.
We got atour of the Main building, looked at some props to included, Luke Empire Saber, Ra Pendent, Indys Whip & Hat, an ATAT from Jedi/Empire, an A wing, Darth Maul Stunt Saber, and assortment of other props and artwork.
Wow!!!
Then our host treated us to lunch. After that it was a trip to the Company Store where we bought all sorts of stuff.
What an experience! We left there and went to my friend Gary's home for a nice dinner and beverages!
So Moe got the GRAND TOUR...and its safe to say, he had a really great time as did Kris and I.
Thanks for visiting Morten! Hope we see you again soon!
