3120 RTV SILICONE RUBBER Experince?

I am doing a new blueprint for an Obi-Wan Belt Buckle from the prequels:

I did one in the past, but commissioned a jeweler. And right now I am thinking in doing it my self. So once I have the blueprint, I will sculpt the parts and try to do a mold using this RTV silicon rubber and do a cast of pewter. I know that sounds silly, but I am really willing to do it.

Here is the thread at CrazyOldWizards:

Just in case you want to give us some helps with the measurements.

What I am really looking is for someone whose used that silicon for something similar to share their experience.:love

I believe your question boils down to "Has anyone used 3120 silicone RTV?"

I have used many brands of RTV and had good luck with all of them. I am sorry, but 3120 doesn't mean much to me without a brand name of the producer.

If you wish to cast pewter into the silicone, I believe this will work but you should look at the "Product Information Sheet" to determine if the RTV that you are using will be able to handle the temperatures of casting metal.

If you wish to cast wax ingots for Lost-Wax casts, then there is no problem. Silicone will handle the wax very well.

Sorry to hear you don't know 3120 model, but If you google it, you will find a lot of information about it and that It is a "model" that a lot of manufactures do under a brand name like this one:

http://www.dowcorning.com/applications/search/products/details.aspx?prod=01015770&type=PROD

The product information sheet tells me that will work to cast pewter, but wanted to hear from someone that used it before. Thanks.
