I have just bought my first 3 Cell Graflex and have managed to work out (from this incredibly helpful RPF thread) - http://www.therpf.com/f79/graflex-variations-facts-vs-replica-144206/ that I have bought a mid/late Vintage with Patent.

I have been trying to consume as much information as possible but can anyone point me in the right direction for the best conversion kits for the Luke ANH, or am I better trying to source individual parts? I'm not too concerned about price as long as I can buy quality.

Would I also be right in saying that if I want to add electronics inside then I should be looking toward the Yoda kit, or are there other / better solutions out there.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Do you seek genuine vintage parts for your ANH conversion? If not ... then might I suggest the full ANH kit made available by Roy http://wannawanga.com/products/luke-anh-complete-set/ as for light fx and sound have you been here : http://www.thecustomsabershop.com/Default.aspx already? ... However I must point out that you may have to remove or alter a lot of vintage components in order to attach a blade etcetera. Personally I like a static prop when made from a vintage G R A F L E X flashgun ... it's more true to the original movie-prop :)

Hi,

grats to your Graflex.
If you go for a complete conversion kit (grips, bubble strip, d-ring, d-ring clip) your best choice would be Roy's http://wannawanga.com/
He had help from Sym-Cha who is most experienced with the d-ring clip and you couldn't get a better one until you find the real piece ;)
If you want to buy piece after piece you have some choices for the T-tracks: There are Gino's (expensive but he measured the real thing in the archives)
Roy's (the real deal, nice T-tracks, very slightly differs from Gino's, good price)
Marv's (very good price)
The best bubble strips you got from an exactra calculator ;)

The yoda house kits are very nice, but I think someone mentioned he is quite out of busines.

You could build your own crystal chamber. Did it myself and I could promise you, this way you got most of the fun.

Edit: only five seconds too late :D

Hi @Sym-Cha - thanks for getting back to me. I would love to have as accurate / vintage as possible - have been looking for the exactra19 which I believe was the model used. Apart from that Ive only really gathered that there was some form of windscreen wiper used for the T-tracks, everything else is a mystery to me.

Im not too bothered about adding a blade, and a certainly dont want to take any parts off of the original Graflex. I wouldn't mind there being some sound/light just for fun, but dont want to compromise the item itself.

I've looked at the custom saber shop before, but been a little confused as to actually what I would need to get!.

I do love the idea of a static prop and for it to be as close to the original as possible - but some noises and light also attract me also, maybe making two would be the best idea!

Thanks so much for getting back, I really appreciate it...

Hey Luke the Belter - thank you also for getting back to me so quickly. I hadn't heard of Roy's and I'm glad Ive come across it now! I had heard of Gino but not looked into things any further - so many options so its had to know who is who and what is best to go for.

Haven't heard of Marv so will need to look into further.

I have been keeping my eyes peeled for an exactra 19 or 20, but im sure anytime they come up there is going to be a whole load of other lightsaber builders getting in there at the same time!

More than happy to build me own crystal chamber, or at least try - did you go from plans or just figure out something that worked?

Thanks so much for getting back to me, I really appreciate it!

Roy hadn't established his shop when I startet with my first Graflex in 2012 and Gino's were much to expensive for me (just getting in the prop busines at this time ;) )
Marv was the option at this time. His T-tracks are hard plastic, too. He is located in GB in Europe as Roy in the Netherlands. Will answer on PM-requests.

Yeah that's the problem ^^ I got mine for nearly 100 $ from Belgium and there aren't many on the bay either.

I just googled and read through the forums to get some idea. Then I went hunting for parts I thought would be nice to use.
And at some point you have to start the building. When you leave the top from the Graflex as it is without disassembling it, you have aprox. 20 cm in your Graflex left.
I did this for my first build. Buying one didn't feel right to me ;) . I'm able to build better chambers since then but for the first time...
See for your self just to get an idea http://www.therpf.com/f79/vintage-g...htsaber-crystal-chamber-display-stand-206607/ (There you can find the complete Graflex conversion step by step)

You're welcome :D

The windscreen wiper is a grand myth ... and should be put under lock and key by the Mythbusters ... it's been hard black plastic T-tracks that was used ... the only ones selling replicas of those are GINO and Roy. As for the ANH D-ring ... Roy is following my custom designed clip rather closely and in case you can't find any reasonable bubbles he sells perfect replicas based on a real vintage Exactra. The only three calculator models that provide the exact screen-used are the TI Exactra 19 or 20 ... as does the TI-2000 which was produced in Italy. And one of the best conversions online about inner crystals in Luke's ANH is done by Slothfurnace and approved by no other than Mark Hamill himself ;)
