2013 Calgary Comic Expo (April 26-28)

I also met Adam Hughes and got a sketch from him. I don't know if he was just burnt out but he came off as a miserable *******.

I walked by his booth a few times, he seemed very cold. On Sunday I spoke with his wife who said he'd gone back to the hotel to draw something for a Monday deadline. I never actually spoke to him, but perhaps this is why he was miserable.

Regarding Carrie Fisher, the fake boob grab occurred at the photo op. Again, the daughter of old time hollywood stars, and the star of three of the most popular movies of all time, she was truly a nice person and funny to boot for even thinking of making the fans experience memorable in a positive way. :thumbsup

Incredibly nice to hear. :):thumbsup

Low points:
Robert Patrick

Low point? really? Robert was super cool with me.

I'm still jealous of the guy in front of me for Linda Hamilton. She gave him a kiss on the lips!!

When Carrie arrived for her last signing yesterday, her dog took off on her so there was little scramble to try and catch him lol. All her chaperones had glitter all over them and herself. She did a glitter bomb.

My complete list of people I met...
Walter Koening - I'll never ever leave out anyone from Star Trek
John Rhys-Davies - Sallah was super nice
Chris Sarandon
Gillian Anderson
Mitch Pileggi
Robert Patrick
Michael Beihn
Linda Hamilton - super nice, hope she'll be back ;)
Dina Meyer - very beautiful
James Callis - the BSG crew is always welcome. Very nice guy
Sean Patrick Flanery - cool guy
Carrie Fisher - very cool
Richard Dean Anderson - I welcomed him back to Calgary, and that got our conversation started since he shot an episode of MacGyver here at Heritage Park while they were shooting in Vancouver.

I wanted to meet more, but there's something called lack of money. ;)

Anyone notice the two women that were dressed-up as Patti and Selma from The Simpsons? They went to see Richard Dean Anderson. It was hilarious!

Glad to hear he was nice to you. He was an A hole to me. :thumbsdown

The one that I thought was being a bit of a diva was Gillian Anderson. No photos. An extra $20 for a personalized photo. But she was sporting nice cleavage all weekend! On the other hand, her "ex boss" Mitch Pileggi came outside Sunday morning and greeted and shook hands with people in the lineup waiting to get in. That was cool. Mitch was very friendly. Had a good chat with him at his table. But I did feel sorry for Mitch as hardly anyone was going to his table. Seems like if you want a big lineup you have to be in a hot current show, like the Walking Dead cast.

I found Gillian nice when we did the photo op. I couldn't afford to have her sign the pic as well. Charging an extra $20.00 to personalize the autograph seemed silly to me. $80.00 for a personalized autograph is a bit much.

Agreed, Pileggi was super nice. I had a good time chatting with him, and he was kind enough to personalize my autograph.

After meeting Robert Patrick, I finally realized why you hear stories of some celebrities who get punched out. LOL.

Ignoring Patrick, all the other stars I met were all kind and gracious.

I couldn't afford to meet James Callis, but every single BSG cast member I have meet has been the most down to earth, cool and easy to talk to celebraties i have ever met. Aaron Douglas (chief, calgary comic expo 2011 &2012) was one of the nicest guys to chat with. Their celebrity hasn't gone to their head.

Anyways, glad to hear about the fun you had!

Had a great time at the expo with some friends and even managed to get my wife to join in and dress up.

I modified my Hoth Luke/Taun Taun costume and converted him into a hobby horse. It felt like I took a thousand pictures with people and I was only there for Saturday :)

The 4 of us took a pic with Ian and Carrie and they both loved the Taun - Ian was actually petting him on the head in the pic.

Although I had to stand in line and wait for almost 90 minutes (he was late), the highlight for me was getting Stan to sign one of my Ironman faceplates :)

Hopefully someday they can grow the Edmonton event to something of this magnitude.

I'm going to keep an eye out for next years Calgary Comic Convention Guest list. I'd like to take my Harry Potter books and start getting them signed by the cast, as the cast shows up. My only issue is that some of the cast is... ahhh... getting on in years? I'd like to get their signatures before they drop dead. Not sure what the best way os of doing that.
