2003 Daredevil Billyclubs

Hi All,

Wondering if i can get some advice on how the spikes mechanism works for the billyclubs. I have all the pieces needed machines from aluminum, and i want to make it right. Any advise is welcome and thank you for your time

Maybe a spring loaded opening with a locking mechinism?

My only idea is to find something with a similar mechanism and either reuse it or take inspiration from it. Maybe a cheap umbrella or a switchblade?
