2 Sonics for the 2nd Doctor?

Ok, Ive found the clip of the Dr using his device from the Loose cannon reconstrucion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12eiHwyrdx4

If you go 3mins 26 seconds in, you'll see The Dr slap down an object to activate the machine. It looks all metal and had curved sides to it. It looks as if its stuck in a holder on the main electronic gadget console. Could this be the intended prop? It looks rather like a hammer that a GP would use to test knee reflexes!

It's hard to say really. It could be but I'm not sure we'll ever really know without having proper footage or first hand accounts.

I have had the opportunity for a one on one conversation with Frazier Hines and he said that the original Sonic was piece of brick - a brack Patrick got, and that is was something that Deborah had on her. When the planned Sonic prop failed to show on time they had to make due. This was told to me many years ago and he had no idea what it was. He did say he could not remember if the prop had shown up by the end of filming causing two sonics in one episode.

Are you in touch with Frazer? Wondered if you could tweet him to confirm. It would be good backup with all that's been found and said as so many don't believe me when I tell them :(

That is a publicity still and if you look closely, you will see that that is the end of an ordinary small Screwdriver. What you need to look at is the telesnap of the large screw that the Sonic Screwdriver is undoing. (see post a few pages back). There you will see the tip of the whistle hovering over the screw. Compare that with the 1st photo on this thread and there you have it. Proof that a whistle was used as a Sonic.

The photo you show was possibly used while they were awaiting the prop to turn up (but never did).

Here is a clear version of that picture where you can see that it is just a regular screwdriver that he is holding.

Morelock is correct too in that the Telesnap from Episode one does confirm the shape of the whistle. The story we are told by Frazer we only gave a second hand account of but it does seem supportable by the BTS pics we have so for now it sees a plausible story. I would still love for this story to be found, mainly because i want to see it and not just have the audio from it, but also to find out if there was a sonic prop used at all in Episode 6. The story seems to set it up but they never used the words "Sonic Screwdriver" within Episode 6, so he may well just be talking about the device he made and all these years we've just assumed that a sonic was used as part of it. I'd love to know for sure.

Here's the close up of Debbie's whistle. It's taken from a telesnap. After that scene we cannot see if the whistle had been removed from the jacket. The shape is the same as the one in Pats has as per the 1st picture on this thread. Yeah it's a shame this episode is missing, not just for the Sonic though. :(

Watched the Fury animation DVD and it talks about the whistle in a documentary and in the commentary. Nice to know that RPF member were right about this way back in 2013
