12" Sleestak Action Figure Project

Hi all, I'm still new here and have been hesitant to add a topic due to feeling WAY inadequate to the superior talents residing on these forums, but my good friend Doug talked me off the ledge. Plus, I would love feedback and help if possible.

So, I'm working on sculpting a 12" Sleestak (from Land of the Lost) large action figure, in the same vein as the Star Wars 12" figures, or Bionic Bigfoot. I'm loosely trying to have it look like it was made in the 70's as opposed to the sleek stylings of todays toys.

I'm using Super Sculpey molded onto an old Ken doll and glass beads for eyes.

Here's the trick; I'd like to be able to cast a silicone mold and do a small run of these figures in resin when I'm done sculpting.

I have some ideas for how to cast the seperate pieces/sculpt the extremeties, but would love to hear from others who are experienced. I figured now would be a good time to ask since I'm only on the torso so far.

Thanks in advance and let me know your thoughts.

VERY nice! I loved the Sleestaks back then - really creepy villains, and the Chamber of Skulls seemed almost mystical. You may also want to do an Enoch variant, with a slightly different color scheme when you get the base model down. IIRC, Enoch was a little more tannish-brown with clothing, vs. the Sleestaks which were unclothed and more greenish. The eyes may have been a different color, too, but I just can't remember.

Outstanding work in any case. :thumbsup

Thanks guys! Cool to see interest is out there. Yeah, I'm very familiar with Enoch (I thought it was "Enik" though) and that did cross my mind. Need some red, sparkley lamay for his vest...

AND the magetty!

Believe me, there is NO reason you need to feel inadequate at all, my friend, that's really a nice sculpt so far! I can't wait to see it finalized. It's just oozing sleestakyness! :)

Very well done!
-B89! :D

Excellent sculpt :thumbsup

Which is why I'll never get one - those damn things creeped the hell out of me when I was a kid :cry:lol

It was spelled "Enoch" in his first appearance but later on other writers had only heard his name, I guess, and from then on it was "Enik".

Great sculpt! Love that T-Shirt, too.

Thanks everyone. And thanks for easing my anxiety Beeb89. I'll be posting new pics as I make significant progress.

Thanks for the clarification, Treadwell! That's been bugging me. Maybe I should change the spelling of the shirt on my site! Or at least add the alternative spelling for better search results.

Again, thanks for the support.

Ideas on casting?

Always wondered how a sleestak tied a knot with no thumbs but I always liked them just the same.

Good lookin' sculpt.

Nice work so far!

I look back on that Show fondly, hey any show with Master Po on it I loved! ;)

That lighted crystal stone control panel deal in the Sleestack caves fascinated me as a kid.
I wish they had spent more time on Sleestak tech episodes!

Here's a shot of the mask we did at All Artistries a few years ago-

Hope this helps!

Hey awesome SgtFang! I do have reference pics, but the more the merrier!! That looks fantastic! Looks like my nose area needs to be shaved down a bit.

Thanks all for the feedback!

Wow that show makes me think back of my first crush I had :lol.....it was on Holly :love......well when I was 12, I though she was hot :love. Ah the days of being young and dumb :confused

AWESOME! I loved that show as a kid. And the sleestacks were the best part. Wasn't their leader or elder called, "Enoch"?

I loved her too.. I even named my dopey "indie record label" (from 1993 to 1998) after her:

And if you make those Sleestaks, I am sooo in.

It's coming out nice :thumbsup... here's a pic of my own interpretation on a sculpt I did a few years ago.

That's awesom Frightzone_4_you!! Is that a costume? It looks like foam rubber airbrushed. Please tell me, it's hard to tell from the small pic.

So cool to meet mutual fans.
