So... I actually had this mostly together for Halloween, but finally did some good pictures this weekend at Chattacon in TN.
I've always wanted to do a Doctor costume, but (especially with the new series) I really haven't had the right look to do any of them. I felt like I might actually have a shot at pulling of Mr. Smith.
The jacket was a lucky thrift find. It needs taken in a bit, but that's the next upgrade. The shirt I made using fabric I had printed at Spoonflower. There's a thread here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/doctor-who-11th-doctor-shirt-pattern-development-thread-87917/ RPF member Risu and I worked together on a better print, which he then abandoned, went detail crazy, and came up with one that is pretty much dead on. Yes, you can buy the fabric. There should be some details in that thread. My current pattern has the general look, but I have a bolt of the new Risu fabric waiting for my scissors. My stunt pants are actually a heavily altered pair of Express herringbone slacks, and will likely stay as is until I find the absolute perfect replacement as I feel they have the right look as is. Shoes are actually Just ropers. The Kilty style.
Of course I couldn't just leave it there. I had to accessorize, so enter my favorite prop. What's the Doctor without a companion? Details about the vest build forthcoming, but for now enjoy the pics with the pretty girl in them.
And just for fun. You never know when you'll run into Carl, SciFi janitor (I think Bob was passed out drunk somewhere)
