Hey everyone! I'm wondering if anyone is wanting to share if/how they've modded their 10th Doctor sonic screwdriver universal remote. So far I've just darkened the cracks with acrylic paint.
Honestly have no clue. Its some bottle that was in my wifes craft stuff. the label has since faded/rubbed off. Not even sure if it's the original container.
I would be proud of that! Did you use crackle paint?
I made one for a friend a while back, and couldn't get the crackle to work properly on such a tight diameter. I ended up scratching the cracks into the plastic surface by hand then over painting the colour and 'dirtying' the cracks with a black wash. Sadly, I only took a couple of quick snaps before handing it over to said friend. Here's one:-
On the plus side, I did manage to build in a tiny sound circuit and speaker, so it sounded the part as well as lighting up at a push of that little round button in the silver collar. The back end was from a cheap pen toy, so he could even write with it!
Honestly, your best bet is to replace the ceramic handle with a brass version and then apply a new coat of crackle paint. There's no room in the sonic to add any more weight.
