10 things that Ghostbusters 3 would need to get right

I would certainly love another Ghostbusters, but do you know how old all those guys are? they need to pass the torch to a new crew, and those are big shoes to fill. This is one of thosechemistry issues where a million things can go wrong, but only the right mix can make it right.

Think Spiderman 3, people. I would hate my beloved ghostbusters to go out with a Kurplop!

They need to not pass the torch to a new crew. They just need to let the idea die for chrissakes.

>sigh<

Make another video game if you want. Make another cartoon show. But leave the live-action films alone.

I second that Egon - the screenplay for 3 is HORRIBLE and all it would need to leap from Horrible to worse than GB2 is for Seth Rogan or Jonah Hill is be anywhere near this. Also, as good as a director as Ramis was - he's not anymore. There comes a time where these guys really have no idea how they were once consided funny. I saw an interview with him where he said he can't make it through Caddyshack nowdays --- huh? Do what?

As far as the boys and their age - well, George Burns was doing movies like "Going out In Style and The Sunshine Boys" wayyy later than any of the GB cast - and Murray is still one of those guys who when he shows his face in a trailer and it's a comedy - you pretty much know it's going to be fun. We don't have comedians like that now. Bill Hader is on his way - but he's got at least another 3 to 5 years of cementing himself as a household name before he could take the place of a Murray or Ackroyd.

And what a weird rule "DON'T TALK ABOUT THE TRADE CENTER" -- Who are you to inlude that prerequisite?

Not sure about these, but the one that really jumps out at me as off-base is:

Keep the deadpan humor

The humor across the board was not "deadpan." Each of the three guys had a specific, archetypal comedic style that allowed for them to play off of each other for maximum effect. The closest any of them get to deadpan would be Egon.
"Subtlety" is not necessarily deadpan.

I don't think anything they could do would possibly live up to our expectations. Still, I find myself wishing to see the crew one more time...but not at the cost of seeing something like GB2 or Crystal Skull like.

Honestly, I thought the script for the Ghostbuster's video game was a pretty darn good story line. If they can do something along those lines, I think it would do quite well.

I'd rather see them just keep with the videogames as i thought that was really good. And do you really need Bill Murray if he wants to die off anyhow?

I think that if they continue from the story established with Ghostbusters: The Video Game, it'd be pretty much excellent.

I'm gonna echo what most others here have said. The future of this franchise is in the video games...

I thought I wanted another Star Wars film, I was wrong.

I thought I wanted another Indy film, I was wrong.

PLEASE, no GB3.

That and the games are alot cheaper to make which means more profit plus the guys can be as young as they want to be so we don't have to see them bald and old.

NO sequel from ANY franchise that has been dorment for so long will EVER please fans.
The Prequels.
Indy 4.
There is just too large of a fanbase with too many overprotective fans debating in thier heads what they think the appropriate sequel should look and feel like.
I support a Ghostbusters 3 because I know there will things I WILL enjoy about it. It will never be the original - but it will also NEVER take anything away from the original as well.
As much as I loathe the prequels, I can still watch the OT and be entertained without having to worry about watching or enjoying the prequels.
I love Indy 4. It had everything in it I need as an Indy fan. I'm not going to let a refridgerator and some monkeys ruin that for me.
If the script is funny, the characters (new and old) are well written and represented and the special effects do not deviate too far into Lucasville, I will be happy....and if not, I can still watch the original Ghostbusters and be just as entertained as ever.

I would argue that Rocky Balboa, although not a spectacular film, was a nice conclusion to the series. Can't think of any others though.

I want GB3 immensely.

I just don't want it to suck. CS didn't need to suck. It's all in the writing. Get the script, and don't give in until you do, and make the movie.

If anyone not afraid of Lucas' wrath would have just read ep1 and CS with a discerning eye, it was obvious both films had huge problems, cough cough Irena Falco cough cough Jar Jar.

It's a pretty good list. I agree with pretty much everything on it, except for #4: Bring back Gozer the Gozerian.

No, bad idea. Good sequels give us something new. Bad sequels rehash what has been done before. No, having Gozer take a new form is not new enough. If the best you can do is rehash what you have already done, it's a sign, alright. "Goin' out of business" sign.
