Even with the primer-in-the-mold trick?

That didn't work out too well. What happened was the FG cured at a different rate than the primer, so the paint cracked after 2 days, especially on the larger pieces. On the smaller pieces it seemed to work.

But on the plus side, the polyester fiberglass doesn't need any special primers like the epoxy, paint seems to stick to it a lot better.

Thanks,

By the way this one has been canceled for now, I just don't have time anymore to make these. Also I might be selling the masters.

Richard please tell me that you will be able to complete mine? As a reminder, you and I have previously communicated about this.

All finished with the polyester resin version. A few notes about it, be sure to wear protective gear with this one because it's more toxic than the epoxy one, and like I said it's a little on the stinky side, before it's primered.

Just use regular primers and paint on it though, you don't need self etch. Also, super glue sticks to it instantly, you don't have time to move the parts around, so be sure to have the piece where you want it before you put them together. The epoxy takes longer for glue to set up, this stuff doesn't, as I found out lol.

Ok, I've now built both versions, they're difficult yes, but they're not impossible. Now I'll get the rest of the orders out as fast as I can, and I want to thank everyone that ordered one I appreciate it.

Depending on what Polar Lights is going to do will determine whether I'll release this one again.

Someone should be cranking these out for you man. The kit design is done. You should cash in now. It'll take PL at least three years to get one out at the rate they do things.

Thanks. That's what I've been thinking about, but the master is a little rough for wear after the last molding so it needs some repairs. I'll get it fixed up and probably shop it around and see if anyone wants to buy it.

I just received mine, which is also my first REL model, and I wanted to offer the following. Holy #$#^^%&, Rel can build a model. The lines, the detail. I am really pleased with it. I highly recommend the model and the builder.:thumbsup

Dana has cast 3 of these this week, I'm slowly getting caught up. Just had to show the pics, lol.

Some updates to this. The K'tinga will now be a full resin kit. All clear pieces will be heat cast clear resin, here's the ball that I just pulled from the mold, which is now a one piece casting instead of a top and bottom. For those that haven't gotten theirs yet, they'll get the resin version unless they want the fiberglass one.
