1/25 Chevy Nova "Death Proof"

Thanks guys

I have Christine and the Vanishing Point Challenger in my stash, too. I´ll put up a build thread in here as soon as I get started with one of the kits. But it may take a while. First I´ll finish the Nova and Eleanor, then the ´70 Charger from Fast&Furious is coming along next. I have already prepared everything to get started with the build.

The next update on the Nova should be up within the next two days. Been a little bit busy lately as my girlfriend is moving. Why does renovating always end up in more work than expected?!?

Cheers
Kevin

Hey Kevin Do you have the Eleanor and the Vinishing point Challenger in kits?
Meaby you want post pictures of the boxes :).here we dont have kits from them.

Hi Rob

Here´s a link to my Eleanor WIP. All information you need is included in the text:

The Vanishing Point Challenger is available from AMT. You can get one of these for a few bucks on ebay:

Hey dudes

I was busy today and have done some work on the hood. I printed out a scaled down skull graphic and used it as a template for the masking tape. The lightning cross was very fiddly as it was cut out in one piece. So I had some fun...but it went all good and I´m very happy with how it turned out.

Now I need to put on a coat of gloss clear and a coat of flat clear to have the same surface as the body. Feels good to finally finish it after a few years of construction. :cool

Thanks for looking and best regards
Kevin

Thnx Kevin for showing your box of the challenger it is a nice model
But the Nova looks as the best.great job almost finishd!
And the color is better than mine.

Yes, the Challenger is a really nice kit and way better in proportion than the newer Revell kit. The only drawback on the AMT kit is that it comes either as a convertible or with a vinyl roof. For the Vanishing Point Car, the roof has to be glued to the body and the vinyl structure needs to be sanded away. But it´s worth the effort. Best Challenger kit available in my opinion.

Thats Right Kevin, eaven I also saw that metal model is look at where you can buy that because a ready-made model is quite so easy :)

Hello

The Nova is now finally completed. As most of the model has already been shown in detail, here is a final bunch of walkaround pictures. :thumbsup

It was a blast to build, even though it took me forever to finish it. Hope you guys like it and thanks for watching.

Best regards
Kevin

Holy crap this is impressive. Coolest model car I've ever seen. If you ever made more of these, I would totally buy one!

Hello movie fans

To finish this WIP off, I took some outdoor pics of the Nova. I think the car looks pretty cool in that location. It´s an abandoned stonepit.

Excellent replica inside and out! Those outdoor shots make it look like the real deal! Well, not the upside down shots, but...you know what I mean.

Any suggestions for where we lowly modelers might be able to find a "rubber duck" hood ornament for our own Death Proof Nova builds?

Thanks Zombie

For those who are interested in a Rubber Duck hood ornament, I´d suggest to keep your eyes on American International Truck Models. I have just contacted them and they will have the duck (casted in resin) available soon in 1/25 scale. Don´t know when exactly, but it will definately be available there. Here´s a link to their homepage:

For those who are interested in a Rubber Duck hood ornament...
Thanks Kevin! A few years ago there was a seller on evilBay that offered them occasionally, but their listings for them became less and less frequent. So when they did list one, bidding wars drove the price into what I considered to be unreasonable territory (i.e., I'll try to sculpt one myself before I pay $50 for a piece of resin not much larger than a grain of rice).

Well, to be honest I remember that happening once. But I did see two or three of them go into the $25-$35 range, which I thought was bad enough. And yes, I know it's not cheap to hire a sculptor, make molds, pour resin, etc., but I think anything over $15 for something so small is unreasonable.

I have paid something like 3-5 bucks for the duck, which is a common price range for aftermarket stuff in this size.
And there was still a lot of work required on the hood ornament. Removing flash and replacing the socket was really challenging. Due to the small size it was very difficult to handle it. When you grabbed it with your fingers, there was not much area left to work on. I´m pretty happy I got it done without breaking the ducks neck... :rolleyes
