1:1 scale Jurassic Park Dilophosaurus

Thanks guys!

So far I have made 9 Dilo busts (1 animatronic, 2 with the frill and 6 regular). I am working on a 1:1 scale JP Raptor bust, a 1:5 scale JP3 Spinosaurus bust and a 1:1 scale LW compy. Don't know when I will get those guys done, but I will post pics when I do. I have other non JP dino sculpts also and I will post those too when finished.

Yeah it is nice to see some one on here from the Burgh. I am not a big sports fan, but I am getting excited for the Stealers going to the super bowl again! I just started at AIP when they won the super bowl back in '06, man did the city go crazy!

I have been meaning to get back to you Allosaur. Just let me know when you want the frilled Dilo. I am glad you still want it!

The eyes move left and right, eye lids blink, mouth opens, tongue moves up and down. I got all of that to work ok, but mechanizing the neck I ran into problems. The head ended up to heavy, so the neck mechs did not work properly. I am gonna eventually go back and fix the problems. The mechs in the neck are up and down, left and right, with movements at the base of the head doing the same thing. All of the movements in the head were servo controlled with the neck mechs controlled by cables.

Very nice. I've built several full size animatronic dinos myself for the company I work for. All ours run on pnematics. Have you seen the "making of walking with dinos live experience"? They solve alot of there weight problems with counter balancing and using bungie cords.

That's really awesome! What company do you work for? I picked up the making of dvd last year and I have watched it dozens of times. I could not believe how fluid the rigs moved with the aid of the bungies. I think the problem with my dilo head is all of the servos crammed into the head. I am thinking about placing them in the base of the neck and just run cables up to the place of movement. That should relive a lot of the weight.

Hey I just wanted to say AMAZING paint up!!! Astonished as to how beautiful you made it. Really great work and hey if your still selling those I would be very intrested. Looks 100% and do you have a video of the anamatronic one? Cheers and keep up the amazing work!

I work for Sally Corporation, an animatronic dark ride company. I'm the sculptor/mold maker/part producer, etc.. I like your taxidermy style dino, would go great with my taxidermy taun taun I've recently completed. I'd like to do a full size walk around of that.

All you gotta do now is add animatronics so those plaques start singing: "Here's a little song I wrote... I just wanna sing in note for note... don't worry... be happ... SQWUAAAAK!" :lol

First of all, the mere existence of these is enough to garner some "wow factor" from me but then to know that you made an animatronic version just slam dunks that! sorry to hear how the neck turned out but I'm sure it can be ironed out in time. Those are really quite impressive. I'd love one just to put in a certain room of the house that I need the cat to stay out of. Some animatronics and an electric eye near the couch she needs to stop clawing and we're in business.
