1:1 Millennium Falcon Cockpit Replica - Group Build

If only I could figure out how to put the video I recorded of it as I worked out its balance. It's in my photobucket, but I can't figure out how to put it here. To cross genres here, I'm a carpenter, not an IT guy

Thanks for the good words, folks. I'll keep working on it.

I've posted a couple of videos taken from Iphone and other sources by just using the regular RFP editor INSERT VIDEO button.
It's the second button from the right end. FONT SIZE - :) - LINK - UNLINK - INSERT IMAGE - INSERT VIDEO

After some serious consideration (and much lament), It was decided that there will no longer be lasers shining in the quad laser gun. (But the idea was a fun one) I have some nice (REALLY BRIGHT) LED arrays coming sometime in the near future. (Near is a relative term. Again, glad that the March 1 deadline is no longer in effect)

I installed an LED in my clone blaster, but it doesn't really show up in photos (or much at all except nighttime.) :)

However, some other troopers have been using small round reflectors in the blaster muzzle. When someone takes a photo, the flash bouncing off of the reflector makes a nice "blaster muzzle flash" in the pictures.

Maybe that could work for the quad?

It isn't so much the "how to make it be seen" that I'm having trouble with. It's "how am I going to mount these in the muzzle without making the very front end of the barrel too heavy?" Question, along with the "What about when the barrel retracts and extends over and over, how do I keep from damaging the 20 Guage wire inside?" problem. Cable chains are too big for the space available.

Fortunately, I now have time.

I'm trying really hard to get to the celeb, my first goal was to meet Sofaking and chat a little while sitting in the cockpit!!!!
Talking about disappointment would be the least!!!!:cry
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!:angry:angry:facepalm

I would support anything to make it happen!:ninja

regards,

Alberto

Hi Gang,

First... Scot... those pics are awesome! The quad is really coming together! Primer Primer Primer! ;)

Second, I want to thank everybody for their support and kind words re: Star Wars Celebration. The team chatted and while we're all disappointed with the decision(s) made and especially our not being able to meet and greet everybody, we're going to shake it off and continue moving forward! :)

We have several more folks working on various areas of the ship so more exciting updates are coming! And there are many more events/shows/cons in our future and we're looking to expand our travel radius even further out hoping to see more folks and share the project.

Thanks again for your unwavering support and as always... stay tuned! :)

Why keep rebuilding the cockpit consoles and other parts? Three of them, huh? I'm anxious to see a landing gear built. Or the cockpit hallway built. Or a gangplank ramp thing. Or the Falcon engine bay. Is this going to be part of a whole ship? Who builds the rest of the ship?

Hey DJ,

It was always the plan to rebuild the center console. I was never happy with the my first attempt and the use of the CNC and laser cutter made the decision to rebuild it an obvious one. But, I ran into a few issues and pushed the new console aside while we addressed other issues with the cockpit... new paint, pinstripes, etc but now I'm back at it. And believe me... we want to build other areas of the ship but we just dont have the space for it right now. Our next big leap will more than likely be the cockpit corridor, or at least a portion of it. I would love to be able to open the cockpit door and see the familiar hallway!

Back to the console. The new console will take the place of the existing console and become the permanent console inside the cockpit. We're going to keep it free of signatures so you're not distracted while enjoying the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy! The original console will become a standalone piece and sit aside the cockpit giving folks a preview of what's to come. Plus it allows us to go to overlapping shows if need be.

Hope this helps :)

Love this thread...

One day you'll need to hook up the guts from these new battle pod games to the viewescreen!

Great work guys. As always, enjoyed catching up on the build!

Hi Mike,

Thanks so much! Unfortunately things have been hectic so there's been no real forward progress. As as mother nature would have it, she likes to make it rain on the weekends (shaking my fist violently into the air)

Damn!!!!!!!! This is awesome!!!!!

You put the words right into my mouth!

Hi Gang,

I know there has been little to no cockpit updates... in between helping a friend renovate her home and bad weather (that always appears during the weekends) there has been very little time. GRRRRR But not to worry. The weather will break and I'll get my weekends back soon!

Stay Tuned!

Greg, I got your email today. busy at work and didn't make the time to reply yet. The managing company / organizing guys for SW Celebration called me today about showing the landspeeder and the snowspeeder. He's checking to see what their options are. Have you had any updates on getting the falcon back in there? You have my number. give me a call after lunch if you can.

Ken
