Hey D,

Thank you so much for the kind words and the "support" on being in technical mode... "...I'm mostly in technical mode at night... mostly..."

This is shaping up to be absolutely awesome

Hi Fire10,

Thank you! I'm at the point of the build where I need to start adding the details... I'm at that jumping off point...

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Yeah, that will do fine. ;)

There are 4 of the Volvo dash panels in the cockpit. Two on each side (same positions mirrored).
You should check out the cockpit controls diagram on page 49 of the Haynes Millennium Falcon Owner's Workshop Manual ;)

Per lonepigeon's recommendation, I ordered the Haynes manual (not that I care about any of that EU stuff). It's pretty interesting, though, and there are at least a few good pictures of the cockpit I'd never seen, including one that shows how the yokes attach to the console.

One picture I'd like to see is of the Falcon in factory trim. Related: The book did nothing to change my conviction that the Corellians were the Studebakers of the spacecraft design business. Who builds a "freighter" with virtually no actual cargo space? American Airlines—now those guys are gonna build some freighters!

What really bugs me, though, is the fantastical labeling of all the greeblies. They're trying to tell me that one bank of 20 toggle switches is for sublight engines? And the Volvo clusters are graphic displays? And there are two "engine start" levers? :facepalm

But I guess that's the problem with throwing all that cool stuff into the cockpit; later on someone might have to try to figure out what they do.

Speaking of engine start levers, I did notice in ESB that they added a couple of what look like unmodified aircraft throttle levers at the left/top of the console. (Among other things.)

That's it for me today. :rolleyes

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

I'm just blown away!!!

:) When I stood back... I could actually see everything coming together...

Today (after work) I'm back out working with the MDF. I'll finish the last piece needed for the front panel so I can then finish the striping - that's the part I really enjoy.

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Hi G :)

Got your packedge in the mail today :thumbsup

Question, does the dome need to be exactly like the one in your pic?

Hey C,

It took almost a week to get to you... That's the last time I pay for 4th class shipping...

I'll will leave the lens to your best judgement. :) No worries how you want to proceed. But... yes! ;)

Sofaking cool. :cool

I'm really enjoying watching this build come together. I'm just amazed at the pieces you've put together. Keep up the good work!

Re: 1:1 Millennium Falcon Console Replica

Who builds a "freighter" with virtually no actual cargo space?

In their [the ship builders / designers] defence: It is a 'light freighter'.

Perhaps they intended the sales department to put extra emphasis on the 'light' part :)

On a semi-serious note: We don't really 'see' much of the ship outside of the cockpit, gun-turrets, 'communal' area, and some of the 'smuggling' compartments. The books describe a bit more (from memory) -- but even that's more artistic license.

Thanks Solo... I wish "work" didnt get in the way all the time... I would be so much further along.

You're kidding me?! That would be FANTASTIC! Thank you!

Sure...happy to help. I'm really enjoying this thread. I might also have some resin castings of 3P0's knee pistons too...but no promises.

PM me your address and I'll get them out this weekend.
