1:1 JOKER Bust WIP (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Thanks guys...

.......
Only little thing I can see thats niggling me a little is the right scar. I think it should be built up slighly more (maybe it's just me).

Now thats what I call a completely inoffensive constructive critique :)

Yeah all these I will look into as I start working through the details of this inspirational character.

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Stunning! I remember you telling me about this a long time ago and have been waiting to see it ever since. Great to see a different expression on a 1:1 joker also.

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Yeah well you would say that wouldn't you coz your a fan of another sculptor and had a dig recently about my Luke sculpt amongst other things in other peoples threads so even when I'm not posting you're having a dig at me!!!...

Yeah maybe I should stop posting my works in here.... wouldn't that please you and a few others.

Wow.......you cant be serious! Your right phil, absolutely right, I am a fan of another sculpter......and another and another. Gee, lets see, Ive done or am doing work with bobby, Howard, rich, pat magee, john allred, ryan pintar just to name a few, Ya.......sure sounds like politics to me and that Im only a fan of one artist and dig at all the rest.........RIDICULOUS! The only one playing politics is YOU!!! You have a really bad attitude and it shows. Youve done the same attacking to other members on statue forum as well, rants and raves. I can post them for you if you like. I can also post 40-50 posts as well of mine praising your work as well. SOME POLITICS!!:rolleyes

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Right and I'm a fan of certain sculptors aswell... Mike Hill, Arnie Kim, Kazuhiro Tsuji, Ron Mueck oh and Michelangelo.... to many to mention

I think its getting into derailing hijacking my thread territory here... this is supposed to be about my work here not your opinions of me personally... You've not once commented about this sculpt... just me.,,, you're trying to esculate the issue you have and attacking me directly. This forum isn't a free-for-all as you are suggesting. It has certain rules to prevent what you are doing here so I suspect the Mods are getting a bit interested now.

I guess if I wasn't any good at sculpting I'd be ignored :love

Hey Phil,
Looks like you've got a good start here. Over the years I've posted a lot of sculpts and have received praise and criticism, just like you. The praise is great! The criticism, not so much, but I've learned that all criticism, constructive or otherwise, has value. I've honed my craft by time, effort and considering the criticisms offered. I look at what someone says and consider it. If I agree with them, I work on changing what was mentioned. If I don't agree, I ignore it. I try to remember that everyone has spent some time looking at my sculpture and taken the time to comment, and I appreciate that. And Guess what! Great minds think alike. I've been working on the same pose as you over the last few months!

Thanks for that advise Bob...I'll definately take that onboard... and I've always loved your work on the Batman stuff and nice to see someone else trying to be different from the rest rather than the same old borning expression. The Joker is supposed to be an expressive character which is why I chose this look.

Nice deflect! On your joker sculpt I think it has alot of promise. I like the fact he has an expression that suggests he is in the middle of saying something. Its a refreshing take on the subject. I would agree with previous comments of fine tuning Heath's likeness more before you start adding the joker elements and scaring.

As to your constant accusations and innuendos.........PM SENT!

Personally, that mouth expression is perfect. It looks like he's caught in the middle of the articulating the 'SSSSS' from the word 'facSSSSe'. I love it.

I really dig the overall sculpt, and I do see Heath's likeness in there....while fully appreciating that it's still a WIP that will only get stronger as you work on it.

I dig the pose, love the expression...agree with some of the suggestions posted but most of all....judging from your previous works I think this one will be just as amazing too.

Keep it up bud.
David

I may be wrong but should maybe the right eyebrow be raised a tad more? It just looks like it is from the pick with the way his forehead is wrinkled.

These are the eyelid brow expressions I was using although I was thinking of raising the eyebrows up a bit and folding the lips a bit more over the teeth.

Also when you do the basic blocking in of the sculpture, the lines and details always seem to look more harsh than they'll eventually end up looking. Once the smoothing process is finished and the texture goes down the overall finish should look far more refined and subtle ;)

Re: 1:1 JOKER Bust (Lets put a smile on that faceSSSssssA)

Hey Phil,
Hope you don't mind me posting this pic.. I added some black to the eyes
to show that Heath is indeed in there. It's really hard to see it with the white
lifeless eyes.. Love all your sculpts and really looking foward to the progress :):thumbsup

I'm a fan of your work and have seen what you're capable of so I know this will be awesome!
I love the expression you got going there.
You probably have these already, but here's a few reference pics I found.
I think you're going for an amalgam of these expressions, so hopefully they can help a bit.

Can't wait to see new pics and I'd love to hear about your sculpting techniques with skin textures.

I can definitely see Ledger starting to come through.:thumbsup

Really nice work so far & should look amazing with a paint up & hair work.

Wow those look great and thanks for taking the time to look them up for me ;) Very impressed by your work aswell... You're very much like me - you don't like to rush your creations out.... You work at it till it looks great

I really like this sculpt. You can definitely see Ledgers likeness but something about the eyebrows bugs me. I'm not sure what though.....

:lol I know the feeling.... with Yoda I'm always getting pretty well perplexed and anything else is childs play, really. But still The Joker has his own difficulties as I'm becoming aware. We're fighting with the likeness inside this difficult expression I want to achieve and different peoples ideas of whats right and wrong.

I think this is going to be my hero reference pic.

The character SHOULD show his teeth - thats very much part of his character and I might even have a suggestion of a tougue in there if the mouths slightly open.

Not to complicate matters, but I thought maybe this might have been the direction you were going, which is pretty cool too and has a bit of tongue. Hardest part with the joker sculpt is that there are just so many darn cool choices to choose from!

The other great thing about this sculpt is that it is a wip, so you can have some fun of thinking where'd you like to take it. Great beginning and looking forward to the updates!
