1:1 Brandon Lee 'The Crow'... Teaser!

Wow. Thanks for the great response :) I have to say, as I've been working on this sculpture (as many sculptors can relate to) I've become very involved in the character and in Brandon Lee's performance. Not only did it bring me back to his untimely death, it also made me think how much more he could of done if he was still with us. I feel honored to have been able to sculpt this bust as I feel very strong about this character.
I've also taken an interest in another hero of mine in the past week... Bruce Lee. Yeah, he's next.

wow that looks f'ing sweet....how long did it take you to get this far???

About a week so far... it usually takes longer adding the final touches.

What first caught my attention was the hair. It has that rain soaked, clumped together look that is perfect. The likeness is incredible. Can you post one sans makeup?

Sorry, I only took these with the water based makeup on.

Good lord, that's excellent. There's so much energy in that expression, and it's so natural...I'm very very impressed. :D

Erm, I'd like to point something out though. I don't know how close you are to being finished, but if it's still a work in progress, you might want to add the bullets in his hair. In the graphic novel, he tied one spent shell into his hair for each guy he took revenge on. In the movie, they never mention him doing this, but I remember hearing that you can see them if you watch closely during some scenes (they're just unexplained). I can't be absolutely sure, since I haven't seen it in a while.

I did read that somewhere but I still cannot find any shells in his hair? Any reference shots of this?

<div class='quotetop'>(frosty @ Aug 2 2006, 09:51 PM) </div>
great work as alwys bud, and i too would like to know how youre gonna cast those stray hairs.

As for the hair... I'm not 100% sure what they'll do with the finished version, I'm just giving a master that will have separate strands cast separately and will be able to be glued into place. Too early though for an exact answer on the hair process.

Great Job. I love that expression, it fits the character perfectly and the sculpt looks just like Brandon Lee.

What is this? The Summer of Chewie15? A Yoda bust for Sideshow, a 12 page magazine article, and now a licensed Crow bust. Congratulations Dude.

Dale... "I've been everywhere man... I've been everywhere..."

As for these being available... these will be sold from a company as a licensed pre-paint bust.

Thanks again everyone for the great response.

I agree. I have yet to see a good sculpt of Bruce Lee so I am really looking forward to seeing your take on him, Howard.

-B89. :D

In my IMO this is your best work yet. And i can't wait to see one of bruce lee. I have modeled a great deal of my life to that mans teaching... well him and spider man :lol

Will the Bruce Lee sculpt be a licensed piece also? Can't wait to see progress shots of that bust. Once again, amazing work Howard.

If they bother reading this thread, man, it'd be a mistake to not keep it exactly like you've got it. It's frigging perfect as is.

Wow, you just get better and better. Very nice.

Now PLEASE make some 1/3 scale full pieces.

Still waiting for that E.T. that lights up.

:)

You all haveno idea how excited I am to be able to lend a hand to this project. Brandon's passing was the first celebrity death that touched me on a personal level. I only hope I can offord one of these when they're released.

Here're two shots of the shell, Howard (I think there's only the one). It's never really shown in anything other than a medium shot. Let me know if I can help out in any way on this.

Your 100% correct with these thumbnails... I just went back and checked some of my reference. Funny I never noticed this before but in that scene with the bosses, he does have this one shell showing through out the scene ;)

I was going to ask if I should ad the ring too ;)

About Bruce... I always had planned on sculpting him, working on Brandon just made me realize I have to sculpt him next :D I have quite a bit of commission work I'm busy with at the moment, but when I can I will attack the Bruce Bust. (no pun intended)

You guys are good.. I went with the eyes from those caps Nexus6 and the mouth from the pawn shop scene where he's drooling :D

That is just way too kick-ass. I LOVE THE SCULPT. Great work Howard. I'm looking forward to the final result.

The shell is also visible in the scene in the church at the end, where Sarah, Albrecht and Eric are talking. At one point, Brandon leans forward and you can see it dangle for a brief second.

Off the top of my head, I think it was a .357. It's never shown in the movie, but I'm pretty sure it has to come from the gun Funboy uses to shoot Eric through the hand, which I believe was a .357. This also seems to be the gun that Eric uses to kidnap T-Bird with.

Up to the point in the boardroom, this is the only gun that Eric seems to come into contact with (except Gideon's, which I don't think he took), so logically that would be my guess. Obviously, movie crews would use whatever would show up best on camera.
