Hello all.
It's been a while so I thought I would post some pictures of a project I had done a while ago and thought you might like to see it.
I came across some pics of the Drax Toxin Vile on the web and decided to make a replica as it looked pretty cool.

I worked out roughly what size it was and did some drawings and set about cutting up some 3mm Thinline.

Getting the sides the right dimensions was a bit of a nightmare, but finally managed to do it and it looked pretty good when glued together. I then filled and sanded the faces so they were smooth.

Thanks for the likes guys. Yes the nuts are from toggle switches, but alas I could not find any. Only the hex ones as the original prop was made in 1979.

After spraying another coat of black primer and leaving it to dry, I started thinking about what I could use for the red and white tapes. I had some reflective RED and SILVER thin vinyl so decided to use that. And boy the effect is great.

Next came the chrome foil.

By the way. Do you guys like the full size images on threads or the thumbnail ones?

I next cut out the end with my cutting tool and sprayed the inside Matt Black.

I then got a piece of thin Aluninium sheet and cut it to shape and drilled a hole in it, using my reference pics as a guide.

After purchasing some Acrylic rod and Aluminium rod, I then had a friend turn up some bits, from specs and drawings I gave him, on his lathe and then started to assemble them using clear 2 part epoxy glue.

It is starting to look like the real thing now.

Wow!! Really coming together!!! Looking forward to seeing the completed prop and hoping that it turns up as a project run in the junkyard. -Ed

Next came the details for the Aluminium plate on the other end that has the Gas Evacuation Port on it and those pesky nut details. These were turned up by a friend on his lathe to my specifications and they looked really good. (Note to self to buy a metal lathe when I can afford one):)

Nick, that looks FANTASTIC> Hoping again that a run will be offered. If not, would your friend be interested in offering sets od "Doofers" "Wigwams" "Dooberrys" & "Doohickeys"? --Ed
