    Remote rocker switch for LED?

I have some LEDs in a helmet, half red and the other half blue. I have an on-on rocker switch to change the colors turning one set one and the other off. Does anyone know of a remote control setup that can mimic a rocker switch? I have found remotes for a single strip and remotes for color...

    Resin vs Bondo vs Rondo

By candy finish, I mean as for sealing BEFORE paint. I have done 12 coats of PVA glue and it still has very little texture from the worbla. So before I paint the piece, I want it smoother.

    Resin vs Bondo vs Rondo

I have a bunch of polyurethane resin left over from some gem casting. Im working on a new project and I want to do a candy coat finish before painting. I have been presented with doing Resin (Which I have), Bondo (Which I dont) and 1:1 mix aka Rondo. Whats the difference in working with each and...

Honey Lemon's Bag from Big Hero 6

Below is Honey lemon from Big Hero 6. Im currently planning out how to make everything, and Im stuck on the the keypad on her purse. I could just use colored paper under a black button stencil, but I would love if I could get the keys to light up when pressed. However, I have no idea where to...

    Spray painting technique?

Great advice Charades! I have been working in my garage. I will try to do it in my basement instead. I have a somewhat ventilated room. I'll just have to be careful about how much time i spend in there. I'll also put up fans to move the air in and out of there, that should help i think.

    Spray painting technique?

I am painting EVA foam armor. I am priming it with plastidip. I make sure the plasti dip is in thin smooth coats and is perfectly smooth before applying paint.I am using Montana gold spray paint because it was recommended as more flexible that something from say Krylon. However, I am getting...

Sealing your armor without making it look like plastic?

I have found a great metallic spray paint for my eva armor. Makes it look like metal. However the seal spray i used on a test piece made it go from looking like metal to metal colored plastic. Any good products that will seal my paint but not look like plastic when Im done? Or maybe I need a new...

    Blueish silver metal armor paint?

I am making the armor pictured below. It is kind of blue-ish silver. I'd prefer a spray paint to minimize brush stroke lines and such. Anyone have a suggestion on a color/brand that would work? I'd also like to avoid paints that are prone to cracking and chipping lest my armor look like crap by...

Plasti dip and pva dont mix?

I painted on the pva in thin coats. I waited 2 hours in between each coat and then allowed 24 hours for the final coat to cure before the plasti dip. I applied the plasti dip in thin coats. 4 coats 45 minutes apart and then 12 hours for final cure before trying to paint. Never got to the paint...

Plasti dip and pva dont mix?

I have a suit of armor I am making from EVA foam (floor mat style) and craft foam. The craft foam seems to drink plastidip, so I followed a suggestion I got here and did 3 Coats of pva on the craft foam before applying the plasti dip. This made the plasti dip able to easily rub off and did not...

    Craft foam is too soft

mdb got it right, I am looking for a uniform look of the material. I am NOT painting this, so the underlying material matters. I will be doing plasti dip with rub n buff, so I can get a real metal look. Think I will go with mdb's suggestion and fit some either plastic pieces, or ribbing in to...

    Craft foam is too soft

I will be coating everything (eva included) with plasti dip. I wasnt sure if that would be enough. I have only done plasti dip on scraps so far as testing. On the note of plastidip, I seem to only need 3 coats to really coat my eva foam but it seems I need about 8 coats to coat the craft foam...

    Craft foam is too soft

I am making a suit of armor, and for part of it I used some craft foam, but the foam is proving to be a bit too soft and bends and wrinkles, ruining the illusion of a suit of metal armor. How can I reinforce the foam to make it more rigid? The silver boot is the old one made out of mostly paper...
