The wet or dry decals seem like a great way to go, I just wonder about sealing them so they don't wear off with use. This is one of those many times I wish I knew someone in the commercial product industry so I could pick their brain for more ideas. ;)

I second on the throwaway steel banding. Look for any place that has bricks shipped to them, or ships them. They will use ~3/4" steel banding which is extremely tough for wrapping the bricks on skids. I have a piece of this stuff laying around just in case it's needed. Careful working with...
