Re-edit: Reasons: lots of typo error.. (Im really sorry about that. I tend to forgot to write everything what's on my mind every time i get excited to do something.)

Note: Hi Im sharing this gundam armor... BUT i do not own this model nor i'm the one unfolded it.. I'm planning to release a foam build later on..

Started this page on the rpf to inspire other people to build gundam too.....
I saw some convention with lots of armored costume BUT with only 1-3(max) gundam costume and mostly no gundam at all..
Here in my country and in my province their is no one BUILD a gundam costume..
I build lots of costume headgears only... namely kakshi's anbu mask, a 2d mask, alphonse mask, and others from CFcustoms, and syrus PDS files.. (This one test my patient completely.. :D)

I've been studying for effective gundam build surpasing others for balancing mobility and stability of the suit..

Requirement: My actual Build requirement

-LOTS of Reference Photo.. (A gunpla model, and a anime picture.)
-LOTS of PATIENT
-LOTS of Bond PAPER (For epic fail scaling for NOOBS[Like me at first])
-Eva foam LOTS or carboard if you like
-Glue (Hot temp glue can be use also but im not fond of using them) You can chose between them.
+Super glue- Expect to get a chemical burn if in contact and very irritant for the eyes. better to add a eyeglass or any eye covering. (Transparent not tinted one) Pros: Stiff and hard parts. Cons: not advice to use on a flexible parts.
+Hot Temp Glue- Expect Burn if in contact with hot glue. No need for eyecover. Pros: Better to use in a flexible parts. Cons: not good for foam build if you are not going to use hardening on them in later build. (As i observe)
-Pepakura Viewer: Program
Subscribe to JFCustoms in the main site of rpf for guides for cutting (Curves and for V,/ cuts and hardening..
-Gundam model i got from 405th.com you can see the owner of this model there. might be also here..

My first Costume armor Build

van.jpg

I advice you first to study the entire body build of gundam..
Older models of gundam esp. those can be found in the older series.(UC aka Universal Century) Has more appropriate build for a human to be use..
later models got small abs... that makes the entire build to near impossible build..

gundam universal century timelineUC.jpg universal century vs later models( AD CE and other centuries)

My first gundam build is the GN-0000 Also known as the Gundam 00 to be more specific it will be the GN-0000/7S or THE SEVEN SWORD.
Mobile.Suit.Gundam.00.full.269103 Scale Modification.jpg
My study to get the body takes almost a month. After the building my friend advice me to start on the DOWN TO UP. it means from boots to head.
So im starting to build the shin and thigh.
For now i finished working on the shin, thigh, and cod.
100_5312.JPG
Note: Pls don't mind me and my sister.( The Im currently planning how to attach everything)

Mobility Test<br>

Choosing what to build.
-Zaku models are more close build for a human use..
-Gundam (Bulky ones are best to be use than small abs gundam(later models)

For Female user
-Much better to use only these parts: Boots, shin, cod, chest(upper part), helmet without the faceplate. small numbers of armament. 1 beam sword (much better to see than using a rifle). for sexy and fierce looking one.
Remove only the Thigh, Biceps,Faceplate...
mobile_suit_gundam_girl.jpg

For Male user
robot+gundam+cosplay.jpg
-Bulky gundam is much better

Further more their is 3 kind of build in gundam can be apply..

One is Mobility type..
Pros:
-You can sway your hands more.
-Moving your foot and walk with ease..
BUT

Cons:
-Visual impact DECREASE.
-Also the body proportion affected.

Different to others: The biceps is attached directly to your biceps thus reducing the visual impact.
Observe the biceps... But see how he moves without hendrance in his hand.
+mobility
-Visual (moderate)
gundam heavyarms

Second is the Stability/Visual Type..
Pros:
-Visually best
-Proportion can be achieve with ease

BUT

Cons:
-Mobility DECREASE DRAMATICALLY
-Not advice for Cosplay skits and whatsoever that requires using the body movement...(Walking, running, and jumping)
See how good his visual presentation. but look. he didn't move at all..
+visual
-mobility (Drastically)

Third is the mixed type..
Pros:
-Balance build
-Visually good
But you will still define how to build and whre to attach your gundam biceps. ( that will determine if its is still a visually good or bad)

For this week update. I gave you the Rick Dom
Faction: Zeon
View attachment 314140

Data:

The space-type version, the MS-09R Rick Dom, had the original MS-09 Dom's hover jets replaced with rocket thrusters for use outside of the atmosphere. The resulting mobile suit had superior armor, power output, thrust, and maneuverability than the MS-06F Zaku II, the mobile suit the MS-09R Rick Dom was to replace.
For combat the MS-09R Rick Dom relied on the same weapons and tactics as the ground use original. The MS-09R Rick Dom's standard armament is a 360mm bazooka which fires rocket propelled explosive rounds, giving the Rick Dom the power to destroy an enemy mobile suit in a single shot or to heavily damage an enemy warship. For melee combat the Rick Dom uses a heat saber, a rod which heats to super-high temperatures and can melt through the armor of an enemy mobile suit. The heat saber has a larger surface area to heat, which requires more energy, but the greater surface area gives it greater range, making it more effective in combat than the heat hawk used by the old F-type Zaku II. And built into the chest of the Rick Dom is a scattering beam gun, which is useless for actually damaging an enemy, but is employed as a diversionary weapon for its ability to blind an enemy's eyes and sensors for several moments.

Alternate equipment for the Gundam Physalis when the nuclear warhead is not required in battle. The atomic bazooka is removed and the suit is instead equipped with a six-tube Multiple Launch Rocket System, or MLRS, with three tubes mounted on each side of the backpack. Gundam GP02A (Type-MLRS) is designed by the Earth Federation for attacking enemy bases or to provide mid-range support for friendly forces.

p.s. you can use the actual papercraft models of gundam BUT a massive rescaling will hinder you Takes alot of thinking (what happends to me.)

Another NOTE: WALKING,RUNNING, and JUMPING Does not make you A HERO.

Also search for clive lee's mech guide. that will help you alot. But it is for free hand guide

Morita Rifle:
morita rifle.JPG
In Starship Troopers, the young warriors of the Federation travel to distant planets to battle the vile Arachnid armies. With them, they take a brutal arsenal of weaponry, consisting of missile launchers, Nuke launchers, grenades, and most significantly….the infamous Morita rifle. The Morita rifle is the mainstay weapon of the Mobile Infantry and the Federation Fleet.
The Morita took its name from a Sony Executive at the time of production, as a mark of respect, and it became one of the most beloved and distinct weapons of the sci-fi genre. The Morita was the result of a culmination of efforts by the art, special effects and weapons departments, according to John Richardson (head of ST special effects).

Thanks dude.. :D

Good luck! I did Nobell Gundam last year and had a blast!

Unfortunately, I had to sacrifice her, but at least there are photo's!

Thanks.. :D Oh i forgot to mention too. before i started my planning and the building.. i saw your nobell in google and also here.. YOUR build blow me away.. (Thank you so much. Btw quick question.. did you do something for hardening? or just plain cardboard/foam?. Thanks :D

I used corrugated plastic, that didn't need a lot of reinforcement. The foam chest however, had been coated with glue. In case you want to re-read the thread, It's here.

WOW lookin' good man. . .do you have plans to go in a convention after you finished your Gundam? Lookin' forward to see it in action in person! :)

thank you ironmaiden. i don't have any plan yet for attending any convention until i finish the electronics esp on its twin drive. im looking forward to attend someday :)

Woooow this is looking great so far! I can't wait to see it all painted up. Loving the 3d detail on the GN drives. :)
:D Thank you.. :D So much. I just use a papercraft pdo except for the shoulders because they lack details. :D

wow man. . .this is getting really good :thumbsup

Thank youy so much., Lol currently working on the faceplate.. Do you know anything how to hold the backpack and support the twin drives? having a bit problem on that mounting them directly to a foam makes them wiggly.

I may suggest to make it like a Dora's backpack, separated from the back. . .

The "harness" ( don't know what it's called on backpacks) will be used as supports for the Gundam Backpack, make things short, don't mount it directly on the back. . .buckles will help the supports also.

Don't know if this help but here's a quick paint sketch of the backpack idea.

or if you can afford to buy a HG gundam kit, that would help alot to. . .
