Star Wars: The Force Awakens (Pre-release)

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Ian McDiarmid has denied that he will be returning in Ep7 as Palpatine:

When asked would he be interested in returning to the role for involvement in a spin-off he said, "I don't want anyone else to play him, do I?"

J

Not a bad bit of news, really. As much as I liked the character of the Emperor, I don't want to see him in Episode VII. He's dead, vaporized by whatever force it was that decimated him in the Death Star. Bringing him back would just be way too much pandering. HOWEVER, the idea of him and Vader reprising their bad guys roles in a spin-off would be nothing but stellar...! :D:thumbsup

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

YES. I would love to see an Episode 3.5 to show the stuff we should have seen before ANH! I would love to see Vader in his prime establishing his feared presence across the galaxy as a dark Lord of the Sith hunting down the remaining Jedi!

I would seriously cry tears of joy!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Hmmm, if the Jedi can do come back as force ghosts (or whatever it's called) why not the Sith? There's probably some EU rule against Sith force ghosts.

No the Sith can come back. I think they even did something with Sith Force ghosts in the Clone Wars. It's unclear how the Sith do it since Lucas said Force ghosts are a Jedi thing. Maybe the Sith can't retain as much of themselves as the Jedi or something.

Just taking from a couple books I have read (the Bane trilogy mostly) The former/dead Sith Lords don't seem to be so much of a Force Ghost like the Jedi, but more of a haunting, or voice so to speak. Almost as if the dead Sith Lord was in your imagination in a way. That would be my take.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Yeah, I posted that in the standalone film thread. I doubt he would appear in this film but certainly could be in a spinoff story.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

It's going to be so weird seeing aged action figures of Han, Luke, and Leia.

Nope... It's going to be Wonderful!!! Like, a breath of fresh "Star Wars" air... And you're going to question yourself... "Am I really seeing this, and wanting this, and buying this...?"

And you're going to say, "Yes, I really am, 'cause this is Episode VII, and darn it', I'm worth it..."

:D :D

Well of course I'm going to but it. All of it.

I'm talking about the realization of being 42 years old and buying a toy that is a version of a toy I already own, but has been "aged" 35 or so years.

That will be a "moment" in Toys R Us.

Go with it bro! :D :D

There's nothing like re-living your childhood! That's what I'm loving about this whole Episode VII 'thang!!! :D

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Had a dream I was watching it last night at the cinema, it was all set on tattooine, and everyone was in rags, mad max style, there was hardly any technology, the only transport they had was a partially built ATAT, that Luke had to hold together with the force, and moved by jawas rowing it like an old viking boat.

Finally got to a massive fight at some old fortress, then the film broke up, when it came back on they were running the credits, then they broke up and they started showing some 1950s porn movie.

I woke shortly after.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Just how many more people to add to the cast???? http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=41558. Part of me almost thinks they are shooting more than one film, given all these late additions and location shoots. Absolutely nobody came out of Puzzlewood and the reason the carpark was so stuffed with trailers was it was basically a totally self contained mobile mini village .They came and they went and nothing was spotted anywhere else, not even at the local pubs. Waiting to hear if any shooting takes place as was rumoured up in the Isles of Skye. Puzzlewood could be Endor, perhaps because Luke settled there in a cave to be near Vaders pyre, but I be surprised ,given JJ general dislike of Ewoks. Just watched the entire series of Lost again and amoungst all the Star Wars refferences (and there are many) Hurley doesn't half slag them off. But again they are another link to the last of the original trilogy and given the short amount of time they spent have spent filming there its probably not a huge part of the film.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

What if being a force ghost was actually the way Darth Plageous figured out how to stop death? What if only force users could use this ability and Palpatine's words to Annakin was just a lie? But just a lie "from a certain point of view"...????

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I would go with Endor or Dagobah or similar remote planet. My thinking is Luke's quiet Jedi retreat, maybe for training new Jedi..

From people in the UK who have been reporting from the area of the filming sight, they seem to feel it doesn't look like it's Endor, Kashyyk, or Dagobah.
