I just flew over the thread and I must say WOW great job! Amazing effort put in there.
I would also say the back is a black anodised brushed aluminium plate.
Just wanted to ask if anyone is producing the lens kit?
as a (less good) alternative I suggest a fisheye lens converter (those that screw on a other lens ) but it does not have the dome shape. from the front it would look rather similar and they are rather cheap. check ebay or amazon such as vivitar or other brands , they exist in many sizes.
If I may propose one small detail: use L shaped aluminium profiles around the outside and screw from behind, this will hide the screws
I think it is hard to get any closer to the real thing than this.
just a question: does the lamp in the film light brighter and darker sometimes? it seems more or less red in certain scenes or not?
