Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Pre-release)

That international trailer definitely seems to give more insight to the actual plot. Pretty cool.

I will say, I was pretty disappointed to go into work today and find that the general reaction to this trailer ranged from "eh, it was okay" to "I really don't care about this, gimme Ep. 8". I admit I was fairly surprised because there are a prevailing number of nerds/SW fans in the mix. I hope my little office cross section isn't indicative of a larger whole! I admit I have reservations about Felicity Jones but how spoiled are we? Here we have a (hopefully) gritty war film taking place during the OT era, detailing the heist of the DS plans, with Darth Vader, no less, looming in the wings and the reaction is "meh"?! Not even 5 years ago I would've said there was no way such a movie would happen.

If it's any consolation, all the geeks I know personally and locally are utterly looking forward to this, be they in their 20s or 70s.

My sentiments exactly. It's almost like this isn't a 'proper' Star Wars film. Thought the buzz would've been far greater.
I've been blown away by these trailers, and to me, this seems much more like a Star Wars film than TFA does.
Maybe it's an age thing and it appeals more to the 'older' fans. Just a theory!

I think Disney is very much aware of this and why I keep saying the marketing for this film will be very transparent in regards to character and story, they know they don't have Luke and they don't have lightsabers. They do have Vader though. So be prepared as super fans to learn a lot from the officially released marketing, they are going to tread the spider lone pretty close to ensure that the casual fans know what to expect and are excited to see it. It's an embarrassment of riches, TFA did so well people are anxious to see that story continue.

I don't get that. I think this looks so much better than TFA. It reflects ANH without the "Look we have a desert planet!", "We also have a bar full of weird aliens!", "The X-Wings are attacking a super weapon down a trench too!" aspect that TFA had.

I also don't see the AT-ACT reacting, it just gets slammed by a missile. I did notice the AT-ACT on the left has no cargo module, so that does confirm they come out.

Their Rogue Ichii trailer was way underwhelming, just a mashup of our US Domestic first and second ones w/o dramatic soundtrack.
That Death Troopers on the fields of green has to be a flashback to when they took her father.
Star Wars has multiple country/language youtube channels and I remember when TFA rolled out, there were some different vids not shown for US.
Hopefully we'll see more of those vids.
Surprised how the view counts are not jumping up at mega rate.
Marketing messed up releasing late night and after the Celebration release miscommunication.

I just watched the International trailer and I was much more excited with that one vs. the 2nd trailer. This should be a fun romp in the SW universe. I love the shot of the TIE fighter rising up to the balcony.

Inquisitor Peregrinus and @Sluis_Van_Shipyards are you guys telling me that we arent looking at a giant beast there, but a man made machine?! What's next, you gonna tell me that Star Destroyers can't hover menacingly above a planets surface inside its atmosphere?!?!?

Now where can I purchase a few bags of sense of wonderment? I'll offer them for free, pm me your mailing adress, but only one per household!

:p ;-)

That shot with the AT-ACT reminds me in hindsight of LotR and the great battle elephants.

Hey, I love the hovering Star Destroyers. :p

But the walkers are piloted machines, yes. A skilled driver can probably make it move very organically -- but I doubt he'd shake himself, his copilot, the vehicle commander, and any mission specialist also there in the cockpit violently back and forth just to look like an animal shaking off a blow to the head. :rolleyes

But it's doesn't shake its head. The head is thrown sideways because of the rocket explosion. You don't even get to see it return to its normal position let alone shake.

Yes, I know. That was my point. I'm not ascribing animal-like behaviors that aren't actually there, despite some degree of organic movement, and was explaing why the very notion would be ridiculous --if that were what happened, which it wasn't.

Cool to see flashbacks used, it does need to distance itself from the main episodes afterall. Might feel like a modern day war film filled with ANH era vibes, makes me pumped even more to think about it that way!

So I guess Galen's know-how is acquired forcibly? I wonder what his connection (if any) is with the Geonosians or were their plans purely hypothetical? Perhaps Galen has some key understanding of how to overcome some of the practical hurdles and ramifications of constructing the DS, or the superlaser specifically (although we see those silly mini-super lasers on gunships in AOTC)?

I think he is the brains behind using the Kibur crystals to focus energy and create the super laser.
