Hi all,
Well with all these MPC Falcons all coming back in fashion,....I thought I'd show you a project I had been working on
The MPC Falcon is a cracker kit,....just a few big mistakes that has messed up the shape,...my V1 had a lot of modification done to it, lowering the sidewalls, new cockpit walkway & cone, new docking cones & hatches,....loadsa new greeblies,......BUT the main problem with the kit was untouched,...the overall shape & curvature of the hull
I did have a lot of fun though,....I got over my fear of painting & almost finished the bird,...(a RPF member bought her,...thanks again)
But I had another kit gathering dust,...so I thought I'd have a go at fattening her up
First things first,....thankyou to Joshua Maruska, who has made great plans & dimensions of the 5 footer available to all,.....his drawings gave me the confidence to go in this direction
So.....using the same way I am doing my Ralph McQuarriie V2 of the Falcon,....I'm using the 'Burger & Bun' technique for this project......the 'Burger' will be made of Foamalux & the 'Bun' will be the original kit,.....this is the way I've modded my Big Hasbro Hero & the FineMolds v2
The Burger from my RMQ v2:
....the MPC Burger,....replacing the mandibles of the kit:
Some cuts to adjust the curvature on the kit hulls
Gluing a circular platform to keep the curvature even to the hull
Adding styrene mandible top & bottoms to the Burger's mandibles:
Thanks for looking
John
