Thorssoli's First Order Builds - Captain Phasma FINISHED on Page 21!

Re: Thorssoli's Episode VII Builds (Finished Phasma Helmet on Page 7)

Hark! An update.

After a possibly-too-long break on the East Coast, I'm finally back to getting things done in the shop.

There's been a lot. First I had to do some cleaning and figure out where I left everything. Then I got the carving machine started on a smaller prototype for the TIE helmet.
The large size is just too damned large:

I'd go without the helmet, but it doesn't look quite right:

In other news, today I started the carve for the codpiece and ankle rings for some standard First Order trooper armor:

Finally, I've got my friends at do3d.com working on some snowtrooper armor parts. So that'll be a thing soon too.

Clearly I have a problem.

Stay tuned...

Clearly you do have a problem.
From what I can see, your first step towards recovery of this problem, would be to do away with the excess substance.
I will P.M. you my address so you you can start sending me these vile addictive parts.
I will take on that burden for you.
I'm here for you brother.

Awesome updates! Glad to see Leeloo still taking her supervisory role seriously! That look at the camera "...ok... play time is over..." ;)

Your problem is good for me (bad for the bank account though)

This might be great/awful then:

Still a bit of sanding and filler work on that baby before I'll be ready to mold it, but it's coming along.

Just like this one:

So they'll probably both go under rubber at about the same time.

Stay tuned...

I am really interested for a Kit of the Pistol, will you sell casts of it ? Great work by the way ! :) Looking forward to see progress

Re: Thorssoli's Episode VII Builds (Finished Phasma Helmet on Page 7)

Long time lurker and finally made an account to say this is amazing. I am super interested in the First Order Tie Pilot.

Re: Thorssoli's Episode VII Builds (Finished Phasma Helmet on Page 7)

That pistol looks pretty close to my original files, if anyone wants them they can be found here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/33286-wip-tfa-officer-pistol/page-2

Whitearmor.net also has other files that can be downloaded that are closer (in size and shape) to the screen used prop. My files I published in like October or November, before we had better reference photos.

I believe there is also someone doing a run.

It looks like there were a few tweaks and alterations, but the sight assembly is very much the same. The person I got the files from said I had permission to do a run. If it turns out they didn't have any business saying that, I'll hold off. I don't want to cause any problems and I'm certainly not looking to rip anybody off.

It's a bummer too, because I really like these:

In other news, I'm nearing completion on the TIE Pilot helmet:

I still need to add the seam line that goes from the back of the HUD/visor attachment down the side, but it's coming along:

I'm also very nearly done modifying a pair of the stormtrooper gauntlets to make them into the TIE Pilot gauntlets:

Incidentally, the TIE Pilot uses the same gauntlets as the flametrooper. So it's still hard to stay focused on finishing Phasma and the TIE pilots and not think about moving on to the flametrooper. Or getting back to this other guy:

Amazing piece and skills. Pistol blaster molds look great :) maybe these kits will be available one day ;)

Re: Thorssoli's Episode VII Builds (Finished Phasma Helmet on Page 7)

Great work as ever - now if only both my kids weren't going back to full time crèche in a few weeks... It's going to cost more than our mortgage!!!

Otherwise, I'd order the hell out of one of those :)

I'll do a run here on the RPF if you're okay with it. I really do like the look and feel of these pistols.

In other news, the new TIE pilot helmet prototype is past the Bondo stage:

Now I just need to go back in and smooth out all of the littler imperfections:

Which I'm about halfway done with:

Thorssoli, one thing I've noticed on the FO Tie pilot is the straps or buckles located on the shoulders of the chest armor. Will these be featured on the armor you're constructing?

Re: Thorssoli's Episode VII Builds

But it gets better. Today I got a chance to test some chromes:

The first one is ChromeFX from Alsacorp:

The second one is Spazstix Mirror Chrome:

The third one is Krylon Looking Glass:
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5620/21862704283_6ff976ce43_c.jpg

I'm liking the Mirrorchrome the best. It's the one in the middle:

https://farm1.staticflickr.com/751/22297071759_9c7fbcd69b_c.jpg

The ChromeFX and the Mirror Chrome both need a clearcoat in order to protect them from handling and the elements. So they'll end up being a bit less shiny and a bit more blue tinted. Then I'll be adding some weathering. So the jury's still out, but I prefer the middle one.

Wow. Those are gorgeous.
