As cool as that star destroyer was, it felt more like a cool image than anything. The scene would have been just as cool with only the x wing
I'll disagree, here. Between the crashed Star Destroyer and X-Wing, and the crashed Super Star Destroyer, there's a heavy implication something pretty major happened at Jakku, probably a good quarter-century earlier, and I have a feeling it's relevant to the plot and why everyone is there at that point in the film.
Incidentally, another thought is that if that IS the super star destroyer, then perhaps the desert planet is actually Endor, 30 years after the death star 2 was destroyed.
Fun as that would be, the
Executor was never THE Super Star Destroyer. Reference Han's "You're just jittery. There're lots of command ships." Yes, it was the only one at the Battle of Endor, but this is pretty certainly not a code-name to hide the fact that this is an environmentally-devastated Endor. Besides, the
Executor crashed into the Death Star, and the Death Star itself exploded not too long after. I doubt whatever was left would have looked like that after re-entering and crashing.
SmilingOtter, that BB-8 roll-out was posted over in the Star Wars Costumes & Props section, in that droid's main thread.
I also have had something else niggling at me... This is the "chrome stormtrooper" from the new teaser and immediately preceding posters:
This is the concept art:
(And another, minus the hood, more clearly showing the helmet and... I guess I'll call them bevors, attached to the chest armor and protecting the neck...)
Given how close the other concept art we saw was to what we have ended up seeing in the teasers or on display at Celebration, I'm wondering if these are two separate armors, and we haven't seen the fully-realized costume depicted in the concept paintings yet. Like, this new "chrometrooper" in the teaser is an honor guard or some such to Gwendoline Christie's character (the probable Captain Phasma). Food for thought...
