Re: Scottjua's blaster builds: UPDATE: LIVE fire Peincess Leia Margolin
So, I finally did some of my own props, and decided to take pics of some of my collection, etc. Also there are some I built for other people… check captions
First up:
This is the Nerfworx lab prototype for the Rey Blaster run. There are a couple REALLY small things that will be changed for production… most notably the two barrel screws are too big. These are place holder for paint and proof of concept and promo photos. Aaron sent this to me partially weathered, so I completed the paint work.
This is a vintage graflex FX saber I built for Alex
This is a MSP5 I built for Scarlet, with a DEC bull barrel, Flash hider, a Blaster Core 5.0, and a Denix base. The rest of the Greeblies were sent in to me, so I don’t know the origin aside from the Todd’s tomtit cylinder replicas.
This one is for me. It’s my Zorg cast Cz3.
First paint up using the correct RAL white for a Stormtrooper helmet, and stormtrooper Humbrol Grey. It’s what I had and to me it looked fairly close to the original.
Here’s a couple weeks later with full weathering. Heavy weathering based off the photo in Brandon Alinger’s Costumes book. So more heavily weathered than seen on screen in ANH.
Now another for myself… actually I think the rest are all mine. My Luke Star Wars Hero Macro binoculars. I’ve have the camera bits for years, waiting for me to get around to putting it together. Well, with the North Texas Prop Party coming up, I decided to make the date a deadline and got it done.
Sooooo… In trying my best to get it as reasonably accurate as I can with what little reference there is, after it was at this point, I started looking closer… and realized the Seagull camera knob everyone has been using… and I myself used… just didn’t look correct.
You can make out the inside wavy lines from the seagull here… at least I’m telling myself that…
BUT… the knob itself doesn’t have the wide spaced single lines knurl on the knob everyone has been using. See here.
So I searched and searched, and found another Seagull variant, that looks to fit the bill. It came TODAY, and I just fitted it. I think it’s a match.
Also note how I believe the seagull focus plate looks reversed over the bell/howell T bar knob.
Here’s trooper’s mystery box
Also as a last minute addition the night before prop party, I added an EL sheet
I’ve also been collecting these viewers for quite some time and finally tracked down 6 of them. I just couldn’t get my hands on any all blue variants, but since the screen used arrays had a couple two tones, I figure it doesn’t bother me too much. I MIGHT paint them, which is why I left off the red dots for now.
Using the Blue Realm greeblies kit, since I worked there and had a small hand in making them, I finally have a very cool obscure prop replica. I’m sure happy with it overall.
Flipped
I also revisited my Tomenosuke kit build, as I was never happy with the streaky bluing of the bolt handle, and the blued bolt. So I re did those two parts. Figured it was worth a few pics.
I’d like to get a steel cylinder, but for some reason I never got an email from propsummit for my registration and I can’t contact anyone there.
This is NOT the same sterling that I have shown in previous pics. I have since re-painted that one crinkle paint, and sold it complete. I regretted it immediately, and found another parts kit and had Solos Hold re-weld the parts together. It doesn’t have a barrel and is NOT in firing condition, but I did manage to get a factory 10 round sterling mag, and did a much better job on my T track this time around.
I haven’t weathered it yet, aside from the spots which still hold a natural patina. This is all new Crinkle finish.
Finally I finished my EE3 as well. It’s as many real parts as have been identified and can be found. Real Hunter scope, real MPP, real molex connectors, real LMK plugs, real V8 piston con-rods.
this is so they don’t break off when storing it, moving it, etc.
Real Webley of course
I chose to go with all 4 plugs.
The next two are a couple of commission blasters I did for people.
First up is a Hoth Han with a Bobadebt kit
Then a Han ESB. Also boba debt parts, and also a Denix
Then was a Vaders Vault Scavenger or Rey blaster. I only did paint and weathering on this one. It’s a static only
Here are a couple of Indy pieces I bought here for my collection. Sarednab’s Headpiece, and RelicMaker’s Cross of Coronado
Next up is my Sarednab sidkit Mal pistol. I was extremely disappointed in this when it came, as I thought it would be brass plated. However, due to some misunderstanding the in run thread me a a couple others got plain finish instead. I had it at a plater here in Dallas for 9 months trying to get it to plate, and they could not manage it. They said, the alloy was something they’d never seen before and every attempt would blister and peel.
So after a LONG time of it sitting floppy and bare… I decided to paint it, epoxy the crap out of it inside so it would be solid and strong, and call it done. I still like it, but it makes me want a machined run of this very badly.
The soft metal blued beautifully, but not plate for some reason.
Some updates to my Real parts obi. Wind vane swap for a more accurate one, and a new balance pipe to hang out with it’s sister.
Finally decided to put together my MPP into a vader ESB.
I know, I know… the bubble mount isn’t perfect. I’ll redo it…
