Robocop Reboot (Pre-release)

... Okay.

Why the F* does he have a social mode? Why the F* would they even consider a social mode. Murphy's tragedy is that he had to learn to accept himself in his new skin and others had to learn they could accept him in it as well. He is Frankenstien's Monster trying to prove his worth. This is COMPLETELY NEGATED if he can go, "transformer" back to something that looks human.

They're trying to turn Robocop into Iron Man. No. Iron Man and Robocop are two completely different characters with differing motives. Murphy was made into the Monster. Robocop is a man turned monster trying to return to his human side. Stark is a man whose family made their millions on war and he's trying to make up for the karmic negative for all those lives lost due to his Family's weapons by saving lives as Iron Man. The Iron Man suit is a symbol of Stark's determination and grit. It doesn't cripple him or separate him from us. Not like Robocop's armor did him. Because, at the end of the day, Stark can take his armor off if he chooses to. Murphy can't.

So, basically, it's a gamble. More often these days, Hollywood is betting with familiar works to draw in an audience, hoping that the visual gimmicks will hide it. Basically, they are playing roulette and putting their chips on numbers they know will get some money back. More often than not, those numbers aren't really good enough to win the whole pot back. No one else gets that.

Let's face facts. You can look at SOME movies and KNOW ahead of time it's really going to suck. In some instances it should be obvious reading the script that it's going to really tank. This script is one of them.

I can't... My brain...

If they ever announce that a meteor will directly strike Hollywood, I'm volunteering to keep the bastards under armed guard until the very end.

Hey....lets calm down here...Hollywood knows what they're doing.

Don't worry about the Transformers mode he has. He needs it for his jetpack...like in Robocop 3.

I know this probably isn't the final design, but look at his legs. How is he going to bend his knees? And if he can, that entire piece over the knee will jut out like crazy. :facepalm:facepalm

That's how I took it.

They can make him move any way they want regardless of the suit since it will probably be a CG suit. Or they'll do like Iron Man and just make the lower half CG.

Kerr, no offense, but that's not 100% true. There are some films that had excellent scripts, but due to the director and/or the producer, they often end up changing and making things drastically different from what was originally written. A good example is Natural Born Killers. Tarantino and Stone blame one another for why the film failed. Donald Cammell's last film, Wild Side, was forcibly changed from a film with the typical Cammell flare to a direct-to-cable softcore porn in the editing booth (the producer forcing Cammell out of the editing room and hiring another editor, having the film cut to where they got to the sex scenes faster). It's only a decade later did Cammell's edit was released, showing that how Cammell's version was excellent and clearly showing the flaws in the U.S. edit that the producer will only allow. In fact, the best example is A Nightmare on Elm Street. Craven shopped it around for years, being told that a film about dreams wouldn't make any money back. Yet, what happened? The film was a success and spawned off several sequels, raking in a lot of movies.

It's actually quite common in Hollywood productions for scenes to even be written and rewritten while the production is going on (the cast and crew of the Scream movies have even stated that they had problems keeping up with scenes because there were numerous rewrites during the production. Wes Craven even made reference to this in Scream 3 where Sarah Darling complains about there being another rewrite of the Stab 3 movie). So, saying "you can tell from the script" isn't 100% true. Again, no one can predict what film will be successful or a failure, even by the story.
