Re: RANCOR Sculpt
^ Roxy could eat this in one bite
Okay, small update time... I'm moulding the final parts now - the arms. For the I'm going with a two part mould as suggested by the wise sage Alaneye. I got a big block of pottery clay and embedded the arms into it. I have put sprues on the fingers as well, which should help the resin get drawn to the ends of the fingers. One side has been siliconed and I've just finishing removing the pottery clay from the other side of the mould.
This has been surprisingly pain free up to now (touch wood) - one thing I would do differently is lay the monster clay on a bed of damp kitchen roll - I got a load of pottery clay welded to it and spent about half an hour more or less jetwashing it with an airbrush and paintbrush - It felt like I was digging up a fossil. But, apart from the time spent on that, all is good.
I was also concerned with the moisture in the clay reacting with the silicone, because I did not want the pottery clay to dry out. Again, this was fine and didn't affect the silicone one little bit.
^ Since creating these clay basins for the model I have cut them down much closer to the edge - this thing will be a box mould, and I'm running low on silicone!!!! Nearly through 5kgs!
A good bit of moulding, very happy with it. Notice the arm shackle - each kit will be sent out with a length of chain to complete it
And the other arm.
AND NOW>>> QUESTION TIME!!!!
Does anybody know if a 2 part mould can be glued? - The support shell I used for the torso has broken and I'd like to get 1 more full cast out of the mouldings. I know that silicone will stick to silicone but I could do with something fast setting.
For those of you after a kit, worry not - I will be sending the resin master to somebody who knows what they are doing.
Thanks for looking
