My "The Avengers" Captain America costume (page 3 update!)

Re: My "The Avengers" Captain America costume part 2

Quick update. Heading in to the shop today hopefully to finish up the top and pants. I've got a parcel notice from the USPS and am hoping it's the fabric I need to do so.

It's a fuzzy pic, because my phone apparently hates shooting at night, no matter how well the room is lit. Bracers about 90%. Have to deal with the straps and hooks, but am holding off on that till I get everything else knocked out and have time to go troll the hardware store.

Very nice, dude-I am waiting for a new teflon presser foot so I can get to work on my gauntlets!

Wrapping up the work day at 3am. So close to home on this project, but many miles to go still. Boots about 90% done. Just need straps, cord and clips, and a little paint.

Lost a couple of minor details due to lack of proper cobbler machine, but all in all, not too shabby.

Calf armor is done. Same way the forearm armor was. I think it might be a good idea to add a velcro strip to the back of the boot and inside of the armor to keep them from slipping down.

Alright. One more update before this thing goes in the mail and begins the journey to Mike's place. Boots are done! Pouches are closed!

Sadly, the weird scrunchy elastic still eludes me. Thought I could make it, but that didn't work out. It must be out there somewhere.

Excellent, great attention to detail. What site do you usually order your fabric from?

Re: My "The Avengers" Captain America costume part 2

Where ever I can find it. This project came from Hancock, Stretch world, and Hide House.

Chris I'm gonna start working on my gloves/gauntlets soon are you sewing the material on the foam or just gluing? I'm still unsure how I want to go about this but yours look great tips appreciated.

I had 4 layers. I had a stiff craft interfacing that I picked up at JoAnn's that was the base. I put the leather over it and sewed the center channels and the zig zag design in. Then I slid the foamies in between. The last thing I did was to add the duck cloth on the back of the bracer.

Not yet. Wrestled with them today. Had to spend that last few catching up on all the other Dragon Con commissions. Down to the last couple of seams tomorrow. The blue suede for the palms has had an availability snafu, so I went forward without it. Just a warning. I think they will still outdo many other replicas without it.

ANNNDDD done! About to go shower, then see if I can get them in the mail so they'll get to you before Wednesday.

Like I said, we're missing the blue suede palm, but that can be added later. Wanted to get this to you for the con.

And here is a suited up update!!! Waiting on the gloves themselves from Chris, but here it is... I love it! Needs tightening in one or two places, but that's more of a measurement issue on my part, I'm sure... Final suited up pics coming this weekend from Dragon*Con
