nice work. An idea--- while your plaster is curing lay down a precut piece of felt into it. that way you have a nice padded bottom that won't scratch your surface that it rests on.

This is my 1st post so please be kind

Perhaps you could mount a battery operated LED in the screw hole in the towel rack. It would be nice for a little light on the inside.

That's EXACTLY what I thought, with the LED idea! Perfect way to finish off a superb idea. Only problem for me is, I'm in the UK, no WalMart, so on to ebay & Amazon, to begin with, checking for something to match. If I find them, I'll post the details here.

I love this thread, I love the way your mind works, man. You're so far outside of the box, you come up with these great ideas.

Instead of plaster, what about resin and 2 or 3 handfuls of metal washers?

I used resin under the base and it works great!!
