Well, that was pretty much the case in 1982 also.

I don't think it's a film we want everyone to love because
if it had set out to do that, it would be a totally different film and nothing special.
Not to sound elitist about it, but some things are not meant
for mass appeal, that's what makes them special.

That is how I see Prometheus as well.
