Bandai release schedule

The small Mecha Collection Star Destroyer and X-wing should be released next month.

I may have erred when I said "similarly scaled", the description makes no mention of it; but whether the Death Star stands included in the previous kits are indeed 1/72nd is worth debating IMHO. I've always assumed the bases, Death Star or not, were in the same scale as the kits themselves. The movies may have used a lot of forced perspective scenes AFAIK and the filming models vary in size by a huge margin in some cases. Considering the dimensons of the studio model, I'll argue that Bandai's 1/72nd scale kit either depicts an overscale A-wing or an undersized pilot.

Bandai's kit dimentions match the official size of the A-Wing, 9.6meters.

The A-Wing should have been done in 1/48 scale... it is one of the smallest vehicles, more the size of the Snowspeeder. Jeppers, just leave us quarter-scalers hanging already... guess they figure once they have "lost" the North American market, might as well focus on the domestic one.

They never had the North American market to begin with. It was never part of their agreement with Disney. Since the kits are designed for the Japanese market they tend to be smaller as that's what they prefer, with some exceptions of course.

At least we can still get them and they're better than stuff designed for our market....;)

Shamelessly stolen from HobbyTalk.

If the Bandai star destroyer model is 111mm, as advertised, then how big would an Executor super star destroyer of the same scale be?

They'll be roughly the same size, it's a philosophy of the Mecha Collection line.

In a recent interview, Bandai's staff were asked about which kit they wanted to do next; Darth Maul, a Star Destroyer, and the Dewback came up as some of their choices.

I think he was wondering if the mecha-box-scaled ISD might be in matching scale with a much larger SSD kit.
I think this would be a great idea- it would increase sales of the mini ISD since the SSD needs an escort fleet in display.

A large SSD kit would not be too difficult- while long it is not that massive and could even be sectioned like the Domelaze kit.

Thanks edge10. Compared to my Armada SD, that is quite a bit bigger, the Bandai still looks better at half the size!

Yeah, the Armada Star Destroyer was a little disappointing.

Though, this kit looks like it may scale well with the Armada Home One piece ;)

Instead of selling a non-scale ISD to go with their scaled SSD, prehaps Bandai would more likely include a similarly scaled ISD together with any reasonably sized SSD scale model kit as they've already done to a handful of their SBY2199 kits. However, even the ships in those combo packs weren't exactly to scale with each other.

The images of the prototype inspires much confidence in what they could do if they ever come out with their scaled ISD kit.
