Mythbusters is doing STAR WARS MYTHS ! HELL YES !!!

Loads of fun, boys! Congrats to all RPFers who trooped. You guys were great.

Of course, MB now has to do a sequel. It is Star Wars after all.

Did anyone else think that one stormtrooper in the woods looked a bit wonky? I'm no expert but that costume seemed really off.

It was the terrible Rubies Halloween version, as well as the horrible Rubies Chewbacca costume. Grant wore his personal Solo costume, and Kari's was made for her and looked good enough for an Endor Leia.

I liked the episode to a point as well. The Troopers were all great! The Taun Taun build was awesome. I'm not sure if they got the size and length of the logs right though. They looked a lot longer than ten feet in the movie. But, I'm no expert.

Right, that makes sense. I thought maybe they just didn't have time to get the Chewie costume to fit properly, but it really looked like a poor taxidermy. Oh well. :p

I was also disappointed that they dropped the small scale test, 90 min would have been better. Also Sophia's boots were wrong. But it was a good show.

I was pretty impressed with her footwork on the swing across. I don't know if they shot it more than once, but her landing was flawless.

I just wish they'd stop flashing the tweets and facebook comments on the screen.

You could see by the way her dress was hanging after the swing she was wearing a harness under her dress and was clipped to the swing rope.

I'm not sure why they didn't mention that, except when they moved on from the belt being the swing method in favor of the harness it was more the spirit of the myth instead of the myth itself.

I do wonder how swinging using the belt would have changed if they used a 20 year old, muscular 125lbs guy how that would have affected the results. Or moving the belt so the attachment point was in front of the stomach instead of the side/back.

The absolutely got the log size wrong somehow, the movie ones clearly have a length that is greater than twice the diameter. I get the feeling that there was some issue with practicality using full scale logs that were accurate dimensions so they fudged it without acknowledging it for some reason. Technically the ends of the logs should have been rounded as well for the sake of accuracy in case that affected the impact but that seems to have been an oversight as well.

Was Adam's pronunciation bugging anyone else? He called Leia "Lee-uh" at one point and kept calling Han "Hehn."

I've heard people from all over the country use different pronunciation for both Han and Leia.

I think if I'm just saying 'Han' I say 'Haun', but when I say 'Han Solo' I say 'Haan Solo'.

I bet it was just a safety precaution in case something went wrong during the swing or Jamie dropped her. It may not have been supporting her weight.

I thought the episode was good. I have to say I was surprised by the way the log myth turned out. Unfortunately I didn't get to see the Taun Taun finale since I was watching on a plane and landed before the episode ended.

I thought it was a decent episode. I think for the AT-ST thing, the armored car was extremely under armored. The U.S. military equivalent would be a M2 Bradley. Yeah I know they're not going to let them crush one, but an armored car is made to stand up to the biggest small arms someone would be expected to use against it, so it's relatively light armor.

I did really like the scene where Chewie is showing Kari a clipboard and she says something like "I don't care what the clipboard says, Slave Leia is not in this scene!" :lol Apparently they have been listening to the Internet, or know how male SW fans think. The R2 dress worked extremely well though...

.

Armored cars for money transportation have aluminum armor. The reason being that aluminum armor deforms when shot, so the bullet will not penetrate it.

David.

I know, so does the Bradley. It's the thickness of the armor that I didn't like. I don't think it was a good stand in for an AT-ST.

I agree, but where would they have been able to get a better stand in? I don't think they have the budget to buy a surplus military vehicle. I suppose they could have build a rough AT-ST top half out of plate steel, but that would have been an awful lot of work for a single use.

Based on how the AT-ST looked when it was crushed in the movie it always looked like a lightly armored vehicle to me, not heavily armored like an AT-AT.

It was just a scout vehicle, not a battle vehicle. I think an armored car was a great Earth equivalent.

I would agree with this. It's just a scout transport.

Leia originally started off as "Lee-uh"...

They kept talking about Han building a ice cave. He didn't build an ice cave did he? Wasn't it a pre-fab shelter they had with ther equipment?

Excellent that RPF members were involved!

When you see the Speeder flying overhead and Han waving at him, you can see a snow cave in the lower right.

I think he was pulling some building tools, or supports or something from the Taun-Taun saddle.
