Mad Max: Fury Road Costume Thread

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

very nice. it's exciting to see everything come together, especially once it's weathered.

Do you see what I mean about the tubing? it's pretty rigid in the beginning, especially if you try placing it under the elastic on the mag pouch. I've had mine out in the Florida sun for the last month and a half and it's loosening up nicely. it's also starting to get cloudy as opposed to crystal clear. not sure if I will need to dye it or not.

Actually the one I have is pretty flexible. There's no "non kink" label anywhere in the paper so maybe that's why. The one I have is a "Salter Labs REF 8900" for anyone wondering.

Right but judging by your picture, when you coil it the coils are more like bends on the one end rather than smooth loops like the other end. mine did the same thing until I applied heat to it. that's all I was saying.

Gotcha. I see what you mean. I have a longer one also that I got too and I'll test adding some heat with a blow dryer to it and see if it works without distorting it. I'll let you know.

So I found this knee brace online. it's the closes I've found so far that seems to match what we can see from the still pics. there are open sces te top and bottom portion but that could be covered by the leather staps holding them in place.

This is a Lenox Hill Precison Pro Knee Brace . Let me know what you think.

Looks pretty close. Hard to tell if the curves are there like the one Max wears but the slots seem to line up. Also hard to tell with that box cover on.

Yeah, now that you mention it I don't think the top piece is correct. His looks more like a gradual curve down as opposed to a hard right angle. I'm afraid they may be using different pieces from different braces. this is going to get expensive quick.

I'm curious if these are modern braces if we could be able to buy just the peices we need from the manufacturer as if were buying replacement parts for the brace.

That's a good idea. Would probably save some money for sure. I though about going to a metal fabricator and see if they can make the basic top and bottom piece. the other attachments almost look like automotive parts or something.

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Can any gun experts identify what exact mag is on the pouch?

I have a higher res photo showing a bit more detail.

It looks like a Beretta but I've also seen some Ruger mags that look like it too. Take note of the diamond shape indent and the single straight groove that goes straight down the middle. Comparing the size of the mag to the pouch it looks like it could be a 20 round mag. Thoughts?

New discovery, fellas! Those Under Armour boots that I posted a while back, it was REALLY hard to tell if they were black or tan. Turns out they're neither. After going over some pictures I found one showing the under sole in two tone colors and with a little bit of searching I can confirm that they're these.

The color for these are called Timber.

Good work on that Comicguy. I just ordered a pair in case they decide to discontinue those too.

Seems like they might already have. I haven't seen them on the Under Armour site. Plenty of vendors still carry them though. I did notice some places that do carry them have pictures of the boot with all brown upper bottom sole on the side and other with black. The accurate ones would be with the black.

The one on the right would be the accurate one. Could just be how they were made recently but the one with the black is the one you want.

Also thought i'd post pics of my new FR Jacket that's in the works. Still a lot to do. I wasn't sure what kind of thread they used for the stitching because it seems to be so thick. I finally decided to use black dress shoe laces to get the thickness.

That's awesome man. Great job on the weathering! I actually want to try and find a seamstress somewhere locally to get an accurate jacket made. An unweathered one of course since that's going to be a lot of work to get right. Loving what you've done so far. :thumbsup

Re: Mad Max: Fury Road Costumes Thread

Thanks! Yeah, if you have access to a good leather taylor i would recommend that. This is my second jacket from South Beach and it was quite a headache of a process. They sent me a MM1 jacket the first time with a shirt tail cut on the bottom. This jacket is ok but it's a little short and runs very small for an XL.

I've found the best way to distress a mad max jacket in my opinion is to take it to a baseball field. I take it in the duggout and grind it on the concrete to rough the leather up then it holds the redish clay better. Can't wait to figure out the shoulder pad plate. I think you're right about it being wrapped in leaather. Probably a low ounce deer skin.

Thanks for the kudos.
