Fine Molds falcon done with lights

My first post here so please be kind.

Here is my 1/72 falcon I've been working on for 3 years off and on.
I upgraded the cockpit and grills with photoetch and completely scratchbuilt the engine grill (didn't like the kit one).
The model attaches through a plug in the bottom gunwell and the wiring is completely internal with and external power through the stand.
The switch is on the front of the stand.

Hope you like it.

Sorry, the room is alittle messy.
Still looking at moving some stuff around.

I'm sorry to be so harsh... but you really don't want to keep such an embarrassing display such as this at your Home, so Send it to me!!! :)

Who are you kidding! This is GREAT! I like this Photo the Best!

You should be proud of the job you did and nice Scratch-building job on the Rear Engines!

I'd also like to be the first to welcome you to the RPF!!!

I look forward to seeing your other projects!!

Thanks guys.
It's so rewarding just to be done with project.

For my first lighting job I really can't complain, that's why it took me sooo long to finish her.

The paint work was a little hurdle I had to overcome too, so many different ways to make a mistake. I think I captured the "right feel" that I was going for though.

I also spent alot of time trying new techniques on other kits.

I really appreciate the light amount of weathering you did. Some might say there isn't enough, but I've seen too many modelers get heavy-handed with the drips and stains and blaster marks and such until their build-up looks far worse than the Falcon ever did in the films. Nicely done!

Nice Falcon danikin72!! The build looks great. I've had mine in my closet for a few years waiting for me to find a good space to spread out and build it. I don't have the room right now. I was hoping that you might talk in detail about the lighting on your kit, especially the cockpit?

I purchased the aftermarket photoetch from http://www.acreationmodels.com/decals.asp
The photoetch comes with decals as well as brass.

I built the lightbox from stock styrene for the engine and used LED christmas lights I got on clearance last year (make sure you get the cool white).

I put the cockpit together using the instructions and backlit the rear wall with about 9 Leds in the cockpit tube.

I didn't take too many in progress shots cuz I really didn't think about it at the time, sorry.

Thanks for the tip! I've been on the waiting list for those PE parts at another site which has been back-ordered. I was considering doing lightsheet to back light the PE parts, but I like your idea too, and yours looks great!

They show up as available right now on the Acreations website, as near as I can tell.

I have one set, but I want 2 more for the other two in the stash. I might have to jump on a set now, huh?

I should tell you it did take almost a month and a half to get the parts after I ordered them.
I think the guy was moving or something. It was worth the wait but just a heads up about my expirience.
Parts are quality but I had a challenge getting them, first time I ordered aftermarket parts as well.
Man, this model makes me sound like a plastic virgin or something.

here are some closeups if anyone is interested.

Thanks for all the kind words, and encouragement. She was a challenge but is now my favorite in the collection.
Since I couldn't afford the MR I made my own.
I just wish Finemolds would come out with more kits in a at least 1/48 or larger.
