I started building this Dredd helmet about 6 months ago, it was a project I kept coming back to.
Above it after the initial application of U-pol car body filler and sanding.
I then sprayed with grey primer and sanded, any grey areas were filled with 3M Glazing putty.
Started to mask off areas ready for next lot of filler.
After applying more filler I gently peel off the tape and then started to sand. Any little imperfections were left in for reasons I will explain later.
Spray painted chrome. All the chips and imperfections were coated with Vaseline.
Spray painted black and Vaseline wiped off to reveal chrome underneath.
Masked off the black and sprayed with VW Tornado red. Unfortunately dripped in one area but I can live with that.
Once dry I went over with a dry cloth removing any additional Vaseline to expose the chrome. This gives a great weathered look to the helmet.
The badge was made on 3DS Max and 3d printed, I used Rub'n'Buff gold on the badge and went over with a little black acrylic.
I applied a little bit of weathering with some watered down black acrylic.
A motorcycle visor was used and I later stuck some thin car upholstery on the inside with Velcro.
Any questions please feel free to ask.
Started as a pepakura build from card stock, I then epoxied the card and fibre glassed the inside.
