Underskull process questions

I hate to admit this, but I am confused about the underskull making process. I've studied various tutorials and own the animatronics DVD by Daniele Tirinnanzi but for some reason the process is still elusive. I'm working with a fellow RPFer who is going to make a vintage style metal underskull for a Crash Corrigan gorilla mask but I want to attempt the Chewbacca route myself for another project.

I've ordered two forms from David Mosher and I've got my Monster Clay.

Can someone explain the steps to me like I'm a 5 year old?
