WolvoSpiderman's Spider-Man suits thread!

Hi all, I'm looking to put together a version of a suit that I've found, done by Dan's Doodles or something akin to that name. Cracking suit, I think it's fantastic and would really love to put it together for a November con I'm intending to attend. The thing is, I'm not sure what to search for and I can't find the parts for this suit. I searched for bulletproof vest, clip on body armour, just body armour, under armour and I can't find anything that looks similar! Or any goggles or glasses either. I have a budget of roughly £120 quid give or take. I'd rather not risk anything that would require the risk of customs charges, but hey ho, if that's the best option that yields the best results then so be it.
So, I'm after your expertise help! If you could help me find the parts, I'll be extremely grateful.
Thanks guys! (I know I can count on you guys here).
Also, how do I attach an image so people can see the suit?
I have inserted a link anyway!

EDIT 2:
I have decided to crack on with my homecoming suit, and this will be on the back burner for a bit until I get the materials! So, I've got a few things now for my homemade suit and I'll be posting pictures. I realise this must be the 55th million thread on doing a suit like this, and as I'm kind of inexperienced in assembling my own suits (not as talented as a lot of you guys- but I aspire to be one day!), I can't say this will be great but I really do want it to be.
So- subscribe if you like, I will be posting a list of links and things I used, and I'm based in the UK, so hopefully this will help people out in the UK starting out on their own suits. Also, given my Sixth Form age, this has been done to my budget (which naturally isn't massive... how hard is it to get a job nowadays! *sigh*) Anyhow, the things are still decent quality and won't break the bank!

Re: Spider-Man concept suit advice

It's not a fake, it clearly says in the caption "Just my hypothetical idea of what Marvel Studios might do with Spider-Man's movie costume. How close do you think I got?". It's just that persons concept. It's interesting, but I don't like that now every hero has to have armor.

Re: Spider-Man concept suit advice

Do you have any experience with sewing? If you do, then you could probably make the shirt out of navy blue and red jackets or any fabric sewn together. The mask will be sewn as well.

As for the goggles, this is the closest i could find though they will require some custom work. https://www.amazon.com/Stylish-Sung...d=1501195989&sr=8-9&keywords=triangle+goggles

I think these kneepads will do
https://www.amazon.com/BLACKHAWK-Ad...TF8&qid=1501196140&sr=8-16&keywords=knee+pads

I have nothing on the vest. Looks like something that would have to be completely custom.

Re: Spider-Man concept suit advice

My suggestion is if you cannot find the right vest for your suit, why not make one yourself using some EVA foam/ craft foam from your local hobby store? For the base of the body, I would recommend a Dark blue wetsuit (the ones used for scuba diving), you may need to make some modifications, but I think that's as close as you can get to the base of the body. Red fabric, such as Lycra or any stretchy fabric, can work great for the red pieces around the suit, including the mask.
Hope this helps.

Re: Spider-Man concept suit advice

I'm not too experienced with craft foam... don't suppose there's anyone round here who might give it a crack? Is craft foam soft...? I'm guessing the foam bit of the name suggests it's soft, but perhaps it can be rein

When I say fake I mean unofficial

You can try EVA foam. EVA foam is like those mats that are laid out on floors. I've no first hand experience with creating anything with EVA foam, but I do know that it's rigid and pretty durable.

Re: Spider-Man concept suit advice

I purchased some craft foam today... I think I'll turn this into my Spider-Man suit build threads. I intend to work on the homemade suit from Homecoming as well!

Now, unfortunately, I don't live in the US, so Amazon wouldn't allow me to buy the 50mm replacmenet mesh lenses. Little bit annoying, yes. Found some on Etsy for £1.80 ish and that was all fantastic until they wanted £15.00 for postage. I laughed and moved on. Looked into other build threads, came across a dude who used PC Fan Filters, and I found them on ebay, but thought they were a bit larger holed and didn't fancy buying an entire pack. Found another thread, and a guy said that he bought some vinyl off ebay... Lucky for me the guy who was selling it offered sample packs!
VINYL FOR GOGGLES (Thank you so much to whosever build thread this came from!): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Best-Perf...var=561798680195&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
£1.99 (Sample 20X30cm- more than enough for goggles) + Free P&P

Total: £57.46
I also purchased some crafting foam/card from Hobbycraft as well as a bit of thin wood to help do the webshooters... I'll check those prices, but I think it rounds it up nicely to £60.00 basically. The foam/card was £3.00ish and the wood was in the reduced section for around £0.57. I'm not inlcuding petrol/fuel prices to buy the materials from Hobbycraft, naturally, as those would be variable for everyone.Again, I'm based in the UK, and tried to go as cheap-ish as possible, so should anyone wish to use these- go for it! Let me know if you do, it would be lovely to hear someone's using bits and bobs I've suggested!

So, I applied the Vinyl to the glass lenses after unscrewing and removing the darkened plastic front bit.
Any advice on how to make the actual camera lense bit to go over the top of the white mesh?

I used 2mm sintra board on my homemade suit's mask. Worked pretty well. You could go a bit thinner and use 1mm. Pretty much any thin black plastic will do the job on this one :)

Sintra board, you say? In the UK, where would I be able to find that? Is it something they'd have in Hobbycraft?

I got mine at a local arts and crafts store here in the Philippines so I bet you'd find some in such stores as well as this Hobbycraft you've mentioned. It's kind of like a mixture of foam and plastic (it feels like plastic, but it's fairly easy to cut like foam). The only downside to it is it's a somewhat sensitive material. You accidentally run your nails on it, and the indent is there forever. But if it's going on your goggles, I'm sure it'll be no problem as you're only using a small portion with minimal chances of scratches. Might be that my arts and crafts store sells some bad quality products as well. So that's something to consider.

So, having received the blue sweatpants today, I took a few photos (I've been taking photos over time actually throughout the project, just not posted them yet!).
Does anyone have any sources on where to gt myself a drawstring with Gold Aglets?

Hi to those who actually read my thread!
Does anyone have any advice on how to make the mask?
I have investigated this link (Dali-Lomo: 2014 RECAP: Spider-man Mask DIY - Fabric, No Sewing, All Glued), and followed certain instructions such as taking head measurements etc, but I'm not sure how to enlarge the actual template to fit my measurements.
Also, what are people doing with the goggles? Are you just removing them from the straps and then gluing them in place on the inside or keeping the sraps, putting on goggles and then inserting through the mask each time (which seems like a lot of work)...
