Spidey foam faceshell

I recently made a spidey faceshell from a camping mat but I suddenly realised it might not be safe. Has anyone else made a shell from this type of material. I have to admit it's comfortable and I have tried plastic ones before and they really hurt my nose. Any advice would be great.
