Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

This build is fantastic. Christopher Lloyd will be at a local convention in a few weeks, its a shame this wont be completed in time to get him to sign it if you decide to sell copies

Thanks for the compliment. I hope to create more cases, but need to streamline the process -it's a little on the time consuming side at the moment...

The case is all done.

Here's a few beauty pics:

Lots of lessons learned, hope to post a few of them another time (assuming anyone's interested...)

Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

Looks stunning well done. Hopefully you can streamline the process

Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

Don't forget to add the piece of fabric that lays over the bullets when he opens the box. It almost looks like Corduroy fabric. And there is also a Pin attached to it.

Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

Really well done. The case adds a lot to the overall effect.

Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

Isn't is supposed to be spelled Valiant or did they get the label wrong in the movie? I know on his office door it's Valiant and Valiant.

ummm.....Valiant is his last name and his brother was his partner. So if it appears to say Valianr...most like the lettering has just been partly scraped or peeled off.

That was a typo on my part, I was referring to the fact that the OP has it spelled VALIENT not Valiant on the top of his case.

Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

:) A typo about a typo....

Yes, you're right. It should be VALIANT.

Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

Yup, I can't believe I missed that. Worse yet, I made a second box with another bad set of decals :(

Thanks for the catch, corrections in progress...

Re: Who Framed Roger Rabbit? - Building the case

Are you gonna add the fabric that covers the bullets? . It has a star attached to it.

I don't think so, for a couple of reasons:

1) As a display piece the velvet flap would either cover the bullets or cover the gun (when flipped up)
2) Real life physics don't agree with the movie. When the bullets leave the box there are only slight indentations marking where they lay, my indentations are much deeper but the bullets still lay much higher than the surface -so the velvet flap cannot lay flat.

I'm sure others have solved for problem 2, but I'm content to leave things where they are.

I can't remember what triggered the thought, but decided to try and paint a few of the pieces to look like aged bronze. Liked the result so much made a quick velvet-lined case to keep them warm and cozy.
