I used an airsoft neck piece and cut the cowl to the size of the urethane ones. Didn't come out too bad. The neck piece gave a little extra pull on the cowl, making it tighter. You might have to add another velcro set up on the back too.

Could I get a better look at the back to see what you're talking about?
