Zira, Planet of the Apes

Oh dang. You are too far away. I am in the SF Bay Area. :(

Know anybody in these parts that can do a lifecast? Should be EZ-PZ, right?

Should be relatively easy... I was doing them in dorm room bathrooms when I was in school... Just try to find someone who's done it at least a couple times. And don't trust anyone who wants to use straws in your nose...

Doing the thirld world squat in my ghetto setup trying to foam up latex.

YAY! Finally a perfect foam run--not too many gigantic holes in the foam latex...just minor ones that I can live with! So excited. Going to wash it up now and let it dry...hopefully it will be thoroughly dry by Wednesday when I need to paint it up.

Going to make a new pair of chimp boots since I lost my original ones.

Here's a shot of my "outdoor studio." Not even using a mixer on a stand--but a ghetto $20 mixer from Wally World that has six speeds. $3 mixing bowl, $5 spatula, $50 countertop convection oven, $15 digital stopwatch. Not in this photo is the very important $23 gram scale that has a 10-year warranty. I've already had to send it back for a complete replacement, but it was worth the $5 to ship it back. These foam cups are pretty weightless, so I don't even have to press the tare button on my gram scale when I weigh out the ingredients. Oh...forgot I have a $20-something hygrometer/thermometer that I look at to decide if I should even attempt a foam latex run.

Well that's as good as any make up they used in the original series/movies! Your patience is great and it has payed off big time! Fantastic thread :)

OMG! Sometimes I amaze myself. This was the best makeup application and Zira II is absolutely fabulous to wear. There were not too many edges I had to blend...most of it was hidden beneath the hairline...did not have to tear off the chin and apply separately--it just laid out so beautifully on my face!

There were a lot of people that were freaked out because they said the makeup looked real, which is a real compliment.

Here I am with the human from Deadliest Warrior:

Amazing. I have such a love for the original POTA makeup.

Saw a few shots with a baby chimp. Was that a FurReal Cuddle Chimp?

It is slightly bigger than a FurReal Cuddle Chimp. You can find it here but I bought mine on Feebay for $125 or so.

Monkey Puppet | Apes by Axtell Ventriloquist Puppets

I should have been bringing this baby chimp with me to my past conventions...he's not that heavy...and gross as it sounds, he's actually great for holding a water bottle.

Oops--my bad. Some of the earlier photos is that FurReal Cuddle Chimp, and is actually part of Jeff's (Dr. Zaius) collection. The SDCC photos from 2011 is the Axtell puppet. I tried to purchase the FurReal Cuddle Chimp but I bought the super tiny one by accident. That one looked pathetic, and I think I spent $16 on it.

Love this photo:

OMG. 40-gun salute in Ape City. I found my Cornelius! And he only lives 2 miles away from me. I can start work on my 1970s Escape outfit for Zira...

And height-wise/size-wise, he is perfect. He stands 5'4" tall and I stand at 4'11". Yay! I know Roddy was much taller, at 5'10" and Kim Hunter taller than I...but it's all relative.

Lol I was looking at the pics of you making the molds in your back yard and was wondering if anyone sees you pouring all of the foam latex thinking you are doing gardening. Nice progression of skill level from first to current since I just found this thread.

Damn frickin' camera! So not happy with it. Anyway, getting ready for a party so all of the apes have been relegated to my bedroom so as to keep the filthy human hands from touching them.

OMG I FOUND ZIRA's SKIRT at Burlington Coat Factory!

OK...so it's 2 sizes too big and I have to remove the belt to slim it down...the exact shape and the color is not too far off. OMG!!!
