Zaku 2 style Mono eye (in need of build help)

Sorry if this post isn't in the right place I didn't know where to post it.

So I'm building a Zaku 2 style unit from Gundam as a cosplay, and I'm stuck just a bit. I wanna make a Zaku 2 mono eye that can light up and move from side to side. I truly have no clue where to start on such a task and how to go about it. I was hoping to find some help here about going and making something like this. I will admit to this one thing however I think the only step I've taken in the right direction is having ada fruit's site in my faves

heres a pepakura model i made for a zaku 2 helmet
you can open it in pepakura from tamasoft

the actual monoeye will probably depend on how big the helmet is
because if you can get you head far enough back the eye could just swivel at the end of a stick in stead of being on sort of curved slide mechanisim

If space is limited from candlecode's design, you could make the visor and mono eye from curved pvc, or plexi. Most auto shops sell window tenting film, simply purchase this in black or dark chrome. for the eye cut a circular shape in pink.
